Name your Pokémon!
« on: November 14, 2009, 23:30 »
How often do you bother to name them?
Personally I'm too lazy to come up with anything original so all mine are named after smurfs!
...and medical jargon so my play is a sort of revision.

But anyway do you give them strong meaningful names or just name them after body parts.
"Boob used attract" is always fun!

I ALWAYS nickname my Pokemon. It's insane not to.

But then again, I usually have creative nicknames, so meh.

ALSO, I never name a Pokemon in all-caps. All-caps is considered shouting, and shouting is bad.

I name just about every Pokemon I catch, save for, like, one or two. =P Al caps, too. Too lazy to change it.
I'll just name them after whatever pops in my head.
That's the reason why I have no clue Hibiscus the Skitty is named that. D:

do ya wanna get rocked?

I rarely name my Pokémon but when I do, I put thought into the names. You'll never see "Flametail the Charmander" on my game, no-suree.
I also do it in all-caps. X3
I give silly names to Pokémon I wont keep, though. Like NIBBLES the RATTATA.

I only nickname Pokes I catch in my Japanese version. I've gotten used to "it's nicknamed so it's not worth trading for," and thus only a few are named. Plus I'm not that good with nicknames, so unless I know a nickname that pops, I don't nickname anybody.

Depends on the Pokemon...If I plan to raise it to level 100, it usually gets a nickname, although thats not always the case.

I also try to give them decent names...Like Swampy the Swampert ^-^

Thank's to Blake... for the awesome sig!

I used too, but I always seemed to name them by Six Degrees. For example.

Charizard > Charred > Coal > BBQ > Steak > Meat

I once had a Remoraid named Estate, how I arrived to that I have no idea. So I gave up. I name my character PLAYER, my rival RIVAL, and all my pokemon are not nicknamed.

Wishling
Sever
Serius
Whiskr
Gastle
Sauri
Fortus
Demuscus

Rhomnus
Ana
Bris
Wester
Soflis

Examples of Gastly names from obsessive shinyhatching.

And a Giratina named Agonistic.

I never used to nickname my Pokemon, but I do now.

I think the first Pokemon I ever gave a nickname was a Meganium back in GSC. I named it Lapoon, and now, I hope that all my Meganiums from will be named that. =]

It was fun while it lasted.

I'm only still here for the community (what's left of it anyway) and my post count.
Everyone else has either lost interest, been banned or just left.

I almost never give my Pokemon a nickname unless I can think of a really good one on the spot.
I think on my Platinum right now, I have 4 nicknamed stuff;
Shiny Drifloon called 'Hindenburg' Dan gave me,
Female Level 69 Magikarp I fished in Resort Area I called 'kendall'
some random Synchronizing Ralts I got off Dan called 'ADAMANT'
random shiny Staraptor I got off some dude at some event called "Shiny..."

Everything (about 54-55) that I use for Competitive Battling has it's original name in all caps.

I never got a chance or felt like nicknaming my pokemon. Sometimes I nickname them after I beat the game, but I just keep their species name. My Staraptor is cool with that. =]

I've gotten used to "it's nicknamed so it's not worth trading for," and thus only a few are named.
I can see that happening but it's not a problem for me, no one to trade with! Can't afford a DS.
