How can humans consider ourselves superior beings? In our entire history, we've committed genocide, ripped the earth apart, caused extinctions, started wars that last for decades, and we consider ourselves superior to all the other living beings. How the living hell does that work?

So that gives us the right to destroy species, and destroy earth? Just because of an evolutionary advantage we developed, also by luck?

the invention of pockets was key to our ability to thrive, fish don't have pockets so they don't have the capacity to take over the world

People posting pictures of ugly kids on Facebook saying "look how beautiful they are!" and I'm not sure, am I the only one picking up on these deformities? Don't be posting pictures of kids that were made thanks to good ol' Chernobyl.

I'm against posting pictures of young relatives on the internet anyway, since there's always scum to be found.

lets all go out for some frosty chocolate milkshakes

wow good job being weird and gross about other peoples kids umbreon

Someone decided to wondertrade me a shiny crustle in a master ball. I have no idea why.

Wolstenholme

So, on Sunday, the vicar at my church asked me if I had been confirmed.

I said no and he continued - asking me if I'd like to be confirmed. He said he'd let the question settle and allow me and Tom to decide whether we'd like to or not.

I don't want to be confirmed. I am an atheist, a concept which no one at church seems to have realised yet despite my sitting in church, every Sunday, not singing, not praying, not saying the affirmation and probably most notably of all, playing Pokemon on my DS (it's quite literally the only time I play). I don't want to be confirmed into a religion that I don't even want to be a part of because that would be blasphemous and would make me feel awkward and wrong. This matters to me as I respect my parents and everyone at chuch's religious views.

I also don't want to let anyone down although Tim (the vicar) did say that "no one is going to force you into this and we won't be upset or disappointed if you say no" but I feel like this was a bunch of big fat lies because there were a lot of people around when Tim "popped the question" and everyone nodded in agreement and made affirming sounds. My Mum and Dad will be really disappointed too.

I don't know what to do, I love my family and the people at church and I don't wanna let them down but at the same time my being confirmed would be completely wrong and against their religion which I respect, despite my view that the whole thing is completely bogus.

I'm between a rock and a hard place.

chloe i get you and the best advice i can give is to say that nobody will know you're an atheist if you don't tell them, so i say you have a discreet conversation with your parents about it before sunday and before you feel any more like you're under pressure to get confirmed and then if you don't feel comfortable enough about telling the vicar one of your parents might do it for you as well

thanks gl <3
