16 years old, male.

Description

Tall (6ft), medium length, light, scruffy hair. Average/slim build, dark clothing, including boots and gloves, always wears the same jacket (see image).

Personality
Dave is intelligent and hardworking, but can lack self-confidence. He generally picks things up easily and has a light-hearted attitude to life. He's a great tactician and plans ahead when going on long journeys. Dave is quick-thinking and good at problem solving. He loves exploring urban areas but hates large caves for fear of getting lost. Dave is a gifted mechanic, a skill which comes in useful in many tricky situations. He spent a lot of time helping out at an Electronics Shop in Goldenrod, repairing broken devices, which helped him develop skills with gadgetry. He is a fairly quiet person but likes to meet new people.

When in tense situations Dave can be a much darker character. He can be much more serious and tougher than usual, especially when Zan or his other Pokemon are in danger. When in these situations Dave tends to be a lot bolder and adopts a more military-like point of view.

History
Dave was born in Goldenrod City, Johto. He grew up there and spent a lot of time in Ilex Forest. While walking around there he befriended a Zangoose, which he saved from a pair of Seviper. Dave decided to train Zangoose and aspired to join the Goldenrod gym. He worked hard teaching Zangoose and they developed a very strong friendship. When Team Rocket attempted to take control of the Radio Tower he fought his way through the streets with the aid of Zangoose, only to find that some other kid had already beaten the gang! During the invasion both his parents went missing and after a long search were presumed deceased by the police. After the invasion he lived alone at home with only Zangoose for company. Dave soon realised that being a gym member was not for him and wanted to travel. After a strange incident at Azalea Town Dave joined up with the Johto Intruders group, intending to explore Johto.

Dave's first Pokemon. Befriended in Ilex Forest Zangoose is totally loyal and a fierce battler. It's immunity ability was very useful in battling Team Rocket's poison-type Pokemon.

Slowpoke [Male] [Nicknamed 'Slope']

Attacks: Yawn, Zen Headbutt, Psychic, Block

Nature: Relaxed

This Pokemon took a liking to Dave in Azalea Town. While going through Dave's bag at the Pokemon Centre it (accidently?) caught itself! Slowpoke is a durable Pokemon, and although slow, can launch psychic attacks quite well.

Hoothoot [Female] [Nicknamed 'Maggy']

Attacks: Hypnosis, Steel Wing, Wing Attack, Extrasensory
Ability: Insomnia
Nature: Naughty
Item: None
This Pokemon attacked Dave while sneaking into a Team Rocket hideout. It began making noise so Dave had no choice but to catch it. Hoothoot is a stubborn but intelligent member of the team. It is both brave and daring.

Heracross [Male] [Nicknamed 'Strag']

Attacks: Endure, Reversal, Night Slash, Megahorn
Ability: Swarm
Nature: Jolly
Item: None
This Pokemon was caught in the Bug-Catching Contest in Goldenrod City's park. It loves to fight and is capable of taking heavy blows. However, Strag can be over-friendly and more interested in other pokemon than Dave's commands outside of battle, making it hard to handle at times.
