In your opinions, what is the greatest album covers of all time? I suppose favourite would be the better word but oh well. Mine is:

Big Bear - Doing Thangs

On a more serious note:

Kanye West - My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy (Cover 5, would post 1 as well but it'd be against the rules)

Cheryl Cole - 3 Words

>>
<<

Nas - Illmatic

Nas - Nastradamus

What about you lot? =]

Dragonite Kairyu

Mushroom

Here are a few of my top ones:

I may post more later

Not that I have much taste in music with albums but

also just remembered this one... i dig those sunglasses.

Winston Payne

Seeing as Sgt. Pepper's already been posted.

Moon Chaser

I would have to say this is my favourite album cover:

sylar

everything everything - man alive

the format - dog problems

fight like apes and the mystery of the golden medallion

fight like apes, the body of christ and the legs of tina turner

fall out boy - infinity on high

fall out boy - folie a deux

fall out boy - thanks for the memories

sort of tapered off into fall out boy there... idc, i just love their album covers. <3

the christians gave me
comic books as if i would
be scared of burning in hell
while i was already there

Afro-Disiak

Fall Of Troy - Manipulator

Pink Floyd - Wish you were here

Tool - Undertow

Tool - 10,000 Days - this one is crazy, the front cover doubles as 3d glasses, and inside the sleeve is about 10 pages of awesome artwork which jumps out at you. can't really do it justice online, you need to buy it !

Mulholland

There are many so here are the first 3 I could think of.

Medulla by Bjork. The cleavage, the hat made entirely of hair. There is something so beautifully animalistic about it.

Merriweather Post Pavillion by Animal Collective. I love the visual illusion of movement created in this.

Neon Bible by Arcade Fire. I just love it's simplicity.

The only reason I love this album cover so much is because of how far the theme was taken. The album cover, the music videos, the "A Collection of Photographic Evidence" book, everything... it just screams effort to me. It's an image that was really pushed forward and I think it works.

Apart from that, I don't really care much for album covers.

"i hope you get niall bursting out of a tower cake singing "happy birthday mr president" and he's wearing a "miss america 2013" sash while giving you a 3 hour lapdance"

Afro-Disiak

Really? Album art is the only reason I still buy CDs.

I think it'd be silly for me to buy CDs for the album art if I never get the CD out to look at it. I buy CDs because I like the idea of actually owning the album, almost like a collection. I know it's stupid and makes no sense, it's just something I do. It's not that I dislike album art [Wonderlustre, Little Voice, Far, and The Reminder are examples of other album covers I like], I just don't care for it as much as other people. The only reason I mentioned WKAP here is because it isn't just the album cover I like, it's the whole theme of her solo career.

Really? Album art is the only reason I still buy CDs.

To an extent I agree with this; some albums I've bought because I need the songs, whilst some I buy for the album art.

For example, I already have had MBDTF sent to me but I'm not going to cancel the order because I love the album covers to it.

...Actually that sounds fairly lame haha.
