Someone I know just sent off to have his name changed via deed poll
Which is all well and good, nothing wrong with changing your name if you see a reason to do so
But
He's just changed his surname to his girlfriend's surname
And they've been together for a month
Soooooo if they do split up then he'll awkwardly be stuck with her last name
I'm just a little baffled right now
Surely you'd wait until a) she's out of high school to do something like this and b) wait until you've been together a while to make sure you're not rushing into anything silly?

I think I may be the idiot... his brother's talking about having his and his daughter's name changed to the same surname so maybe there's a bit of family backstory there? I don't knowww. Either way, he'll have the same surname as his girlfriend. I'M EVEN MORE CONFUSED. I should stop taking an interest in people and their lives.
