Would you ever know enough about anyone to say yes? The point of a date may be to find out more than you already know about the person. I, for one, wouldn't get together with someone whom I've known regularly for a very long time. At that point they would already be too much of something else to become part of a relationship. Saying yes to a date isn't the final stage, it's more of the beginning, and you don't have to know so much to do so. A date is where you can fix the problem of "I really don't know enough about you."

Ah, so you're twenty. Well I didn't know that, so that is a step forward. Although, while three years isn't a lot, there is a pretty big gap (to me at least) between twenty and seventeen.
