Colors are honestly annoying to me and they hurt my eyes a little bit (it also makes chat hard to follow - trust me it does not do anything but hurt my ability to participate in chat) but so be it, I'm not online often enough for this to matter.

I use a darker color when there are many people in the chat to help distinguish who's talking (on the rare occurrence that I'm talking in chat). I agree with some colors being painful to look at, but I don't think colors are inherently bad on chat. Just don't use bright yellow, pink, or green in consideration of other people, imo.

Isn't there a setting in most IRC clients that lets you strip colour from messages on the client-side anyway? Shouldn't be a problem if you do that, no?

I can't check in mIRC because it wants me to register so I've switched to Hexchat and there's definitely an option for it on here.

I use dark blue or red if I choose a color. I'm also annoyed by bright ones, and don't get me started on white......

I agree with you =P I also find the darker colours hard to read because my irc client has a black background.

Yeah mine is dark too.  In all honesty, *many* people want it so the simple solution is for us to adapt and adjust.  I apologize that I sound like a broken record but clients really help with this sort of thing so you can make certain necessary adjustments.

Nope, we regularly get a good number in and there's plenty of conversation going usually. It's very refreshing.

Eek, I've sort of stopped coming online because of sixth form - I've usually got work to do and I'll work right up to ten with the internet in the background but I usually don't go on chat so it won't distract me... Sorry guys *sheepish smile*
