(for the alliteration win hohoho (thank you JSM!))
Or 3S2S for short!

Welcome to Super Spriting School of Sensational Spriteyness! Here at 3S2S, people can enroll in one or more of the courses shown below (with tutorials courtesy of the Sprite Tutorial Topic!) to gain as much in depth help as the teachers can give to help you improve in the different ways of spriting with Pokemon; whether you're a beginner who's just starting out or somebody who's got a bit more experience under your belt, your teacher will be happy to point out what you've done well and what could be better to hopefully make you a better spriter!

While this strictly speaking isn't like a school, it more or less acts like one! The soon-to-be-pupil will fill out a form, and then be enrolled. A teacher will be selected to help the pupil, who will then ask at least 3 sprites for each course, one sprite and course at a time. Typically, we'll start with the easiest course (which is shown in order below). After each sprite the pupil posts, the teacher will give pointers on how the pupil could improve the sprite, and until they feel that the sprite is good enough, they'll allow the pupil to move onto the next sprite. After showing enough sprites at a high enough standard, the pupil will then be able to move onto the next course. It's that simple!

I like the idea, so I'll sign up.

That's great! <3 Our first student, woo! Hope you don't mind if I'm your teacher c:

Let's start on recolours! I've seen your sprites before, so we'll move onto the more advanced ones. Could you recolour a Gorebyss as a Milotic? Try to replicate Milotic's patterns!

(Show my sprites in the thread, right?)

Here's the recolour, with the replicated patterns:

Gorebyss as Milotic

Sorry for the late-ish reply, had stuff to sort!

Sizacu

(Yeah, haha. Sorry I wasn't clear xD)

All right, at a glance, your sprite looks pretty good! You can tell the Gorebyss is recoloured as Milotic, and you've replicated the pattern on its tail quite well. However, there are a few tidbits I think should be revised, which are mostly outlines:

1. The black outline on the cream nose makes it stand out too much. You should use a softer dark colour, like a dark brown (the dark grey on Milotic's head point works well!), for the nose. Otherwise, that part of the recolour has been done well c:

2. The outline on Gorebyss' tail which has been patterned to look like Milotic's doesn't compliment the blue very well. Use the dark blue given on Milotic's sprite. Relating to the tail, you've currently got a diagonal, pink line. The pink on Milotic's tail are from the very few pink scales as shown from various official art, so they should be distributed more.

If you can, try to make your own shades of the Pokemon's colours! It'll add a lot more depth to your sprite, and will make them much nicer to look at! You can do that really easily if you've got Windows Vista+ Paint. Experiment to see how things look c: However, the main focus is Milotic's tail and replicating its patterns, and I feel that you did that quite well c: Just touch up the outline and scales!

I like this :) I'm also not very good at spriting (particularly shading) and I'd like to improve.

Sorry about no sprite recently, but I've been busy :( I'll sort it out for the weekend.

Well, I got it redone. I looked over your tips, so hopefully I've done better. Sorry for the long delay =)

Course(s) How about mixes, spectrums, both "vamps," pixel-overs and scratch spriting?

Sizacu

Sorry for an even longer delay ;; I'll say everything in this post!

Great to have you on board, BronySpriter! JSM will be your teacher, so just ask him when you'll start and go on from there! There might be times where he's busy with his personal life though, so I'll be more than happy to help move you along if a number of days have gone by since c: And just to let you know, I'll be teaching scratching, as JSM doesn't feel that he can teach it quite yet.

All right, I'll put you down c: I'll be your teacher; so let's start on a simple recolour! I'd like you to recolour Lucario as a Grumpig c:

That does look a lot nicer c: The only thing that I think should be revisited is now outlining the scales on Gorebyss' tail. After that, I think you'll be ready to move onto the next sprite!

JSM

I'm going to have to delay my involvement in this for now. My exams finish on the 17th of May. From then onwards I will dedicate as much of my time as I can to helping to build up an army of fantastic spriters for this board!! I PROMISE =D
(btw Siz my MSN broke and I added you on my new one =))

Sizacu

Yeaaa! Start our own ARMY OF SPRITERS!

oo Good luck on that! In that case, I'll help everybody until then xD~

Thought this was a great idea although I'm not planning on joining myself, simply cause I'm not dedicated enough.

But yeah, cool idea.

Aaaall right then, sorry about being away (again) xD

Until JSM's back, I'll be taking his place, BronySpriter c: So for now, could you do a Kingler recoloured as Scizor, please? Don't forget to try and replicate the patterns!
