it's still getting high marks despite it's issues, so it's still seemingly a good game.    it just seems post-game is a damp squib and a lack of new Pokemon (though there's bound to a be a few more event ones.)

Hang on a second.  Disappointing post-game?  Yet another throwback to a RS remake!

(despite them being my favorite of the series.)

Which ones?

When I talk about resources, I mean things like staff members and possibly related, time constraints or even budget.   Now the series has jumped to 3D, there's probably a lot more work involved than previously, sure Gen 4/5 had 3D in them but not to extent which is presented in X/Y.  Perhaps their time and amount of staff wouldn't allow them to design, model,  animate and install 100~ish pokemon & old Pokemon  by their set time.

Hahaha, awesome.
though they've never been *that* blatant about it.  If it's worded like that in game, then wow.

If you go to metacritic you'll find every review of the game so far.

A few of them mentioned that the lack of 3D made the game feel rushed and that there were low framerate issues when using the stereoscopic camera in battle, one review even mentioned that it seemed odd GF would do this when they are known for taking a little longer to add extra polish to the game.

I think if we're talking about resources in a set time...that's basically the same as being rushed anyway. I get the feeling that GF could have waited an extra year or so before announcing this.

I've also heard that GF got a big boost to their team a few gens ago and that we have two teams working on different things at the same time, but I'm not sure if this is true or really what it would mean for the games.

I do believe it has been rushed for a Christmas release though. Considering some leaks from way back in July/August got some of the postgame correct, I wonder if they're working on extra stuff now.

On the positive side, the game is much longer this time I've heard. Highest leveled E4 yet at late 60s. I'm also glad that Ghost got some attention this gen too.

I'll be interested to see what the PSS is like though, GameFreak have really stressed it as being an important feature that changes how the game is played but no review copy will have been able to use it as it relies on everyone collectively playing Pokemon while connected to the internet.

I think I read the review you mentioned.   Disappointing, but as you said the main game is getting praise.

I had a look at a picture list of all the new (known) pokemon, and wow, compared to older generations it does seem almost half a list.   I like a lot of them, but one of the thrills of a new pokemon game were finding and testing new mon.  Even for someone like me who looked at them before getting the games it was always still fun.

In that regard, disappointing. :<

Dragonpika

I like the look of the Zygarde and it's cool that it WAS a snake afterall, but it is.. weird.. that Xerneas and Yveltal each are immune to one of its STABs.

I'd care a lot less about the tiny number of new Pokémon if I actually liked more of them ^^; I love Goomy and like Chespin (though less as it evolves), Klekfi, and.. the legendaries? Inkay and Burgite are kinda sweet but I don't like their evolutions. The others are all either really forgettable or really ugly and the Megavolutions don't add enough to really count as new Pokémon, in my opinion, which is a shame cause I'm SO hyped for the game. At least stuff from other generations is still around.

Yeah, I think the worst part is the lack of postgame. I can take less Pokemon with a large postgame, and I can accept low postgame with a large amount of Pokemon...but the two together will be short-lived. I'll play it and enjoy it, but it probably won't take me as long to get bored (depending on the region/online features). I do actually like a lot of the new Pokemon and it's going to be tough deciding who stays in the 6 and who gets boxed.

I mean, Masuda has said himself that there will be a lot of surprises that people will find when they play together, so in that sense - there may be stuff that nobody with an early copy of the game has found yet. There is apparently a cave in the ocean with absolutely nothing in it and very weird music called 'sea spirit cave' or something.

Also the legendary birds from Gen I are flying around too, apparently. I think we'll just have to wait and see.

Specstile

A cool surprise would be an update maybe a week or month after the game is released. A DLC pack with an after game +new pokemon and gyms before chrimbo would be delicious

Well Masuda is very much against paid DLC so whatever comes out will have to be free.

sylar

aww man im not pleased with what im reading!!!

though in regards to dlc i figure they would be free even without masudas stance. might be a little unfair to those without money to burn if you had to pay for say new pokemon or towns or anything. thats only if it happens though.

still kinda :/ about the supposed lack of postgame though rrrrr...

also, this guy is cool, but dragon?? really?? is dragon/x types the new fire/fighting?? lmao

mm mm mm maybe z will be a little more exciting...

the christians gave me
comic books as if i would
be scared of burning in hell
while i was already there

I think along with fairy balancing dragon, they're trying to make dragon a more common type. I mean, outside of Legendaries we have like 7 Dragons (fully evolved). Granted, there's like a million legendary dragons, but still...

But I like dragons, so I'm okay with them adding more (I mean, look at Hoenn,
That added three, all of which are in my top 5 dragons right now!)

Joe_Pokemon2015- MEGA RAYQUAZA!

So the third Pokémon was announced.

I am now the happiest man on Earth when a third counterpart to the first two were announced. I guess Zygarde will get its own movie, its own game, its own story, all in the tentative Pokémon Z version.

CrystalliseCore

I love the new design of this legendary, just looks more like "Assuming Direct Control".
