I prefer Cradily due to its unique typing and the moves it learns. Plus Armaldo is usually the one people pick in the games. Plus Suction Cups is useful against Whirlwind and Roar and helps you while fishing in Emerald.

I'm pretty sure people pick Armaldo for a reason

Cradily is pretty good too. It's a shame people often pass it up for Armaldo.
