I searched on Google and found the Super Gameboy!

What if Pokémon was made on the SNES instead of the Gameboy? That would make more sense! Bigger cartridge, better graphics etc. The SNES was still around when the Gameboy came out, wasn't it? Why not use that instead?

The big reasons the Gameboy was used instead of the SNES include the fact it was portable, so you could play on the go wherever you are, simulating actual insect collecting (which Pokémon was inspired by), and the ability to link the consoles together to trade and battle, which as far as I'm aware the SNES was completely unable to do.

Incidentally, thats the same reason main games have never been on n64, gamecube, wii or wii u and its taken till the switch for them to finally be brought to a home console of sorts.

Why can't we just have a Pokémon game where you don't need to trade to complete the pokedex?

If you have a game boy converter you can play the originals on the SNES. At least, this is what I do

Because then people who don't have friends who usually buy both versions so they can complete the Pokédex solo will only have to buy one copy which results in a net loss of sales.

Probably less relevant in the age of online trading but I'm pretty confident it still happens so that's why.

Pretty sure one of the gamecube games came with a cable that let you connect the gba games to the gc as well, letting you play those on the tv.

Going slightly OT, why were some pokemon, such as Eevee, Ditto, Porygon and Dragonite brown in Yellow?

I've never had a SGB. Or a GB. How does it work? Do you put it in the SNES where the cartridges go, the put the GB cartridge in the SGB and turn the SNES on?

I had a GBA. I'd love to try a real GB.
