I noticed Bad Wolf way before Boom Town.

Didn't say noone noticed it at all, it's just we didn't notice it every single time, and many didn't at all.

What was THAT? Adipose? Erm, IMO, that was a BAD opening episode.

Qualify that statement? Back it up?

But.. they aren't monsters. If there's any villain at all, it's Miss Foster.

Edit: And simply making a statement about the episode's content doesn't actually say anything to back up your thoughts or opinions.

See my edit above for my answer..

They weren't monsters, they were Adipose children. There 'breeding' planet had been lost, but Miss Foster knew that breeding on a class 5 planet was illegal under the darkness thing, but ignored it, and Stacey died of a result.

Exactly! Why do people think every episode needs some horrendous, hideous alien monster to make it valid/good television?

I didn't, you meanie. D:

I was referring to the fact RTD somehow found the need to include creatures MADE OF FAT.

I wasn't referring to you in particular.

And so what? What's wrong with creatures made of fat?

Ah, sorry.

It just seems... silly, even for Doctor Who, does it not? o.o

Hmm, well I don't think so really. After all, we're made partly of fat! And as I said, they aren't the villains/monsters of the story.. It's not like they're in the same role as the Werewolf in Tooth and Claw.

And we've had 'silly' before.. the Slitheen, the Azorbaloff, et cetera.

Some of the most interesting stories are often those with ambiguous villains. I mean, ones that aren't just all "BLAH I'm going to take over/destroy the world!!". Like, Girl in the Fireplace, or Gridlock.

Danse Macabre ( 6,6)

I think the Adipose episode was more about the story than the monster itself & was more of a commentary on our 'quickfix' culture than the usual 'meet monster, find weakness, beat monster' episode.

Remembering that whathever monster/creature that the Doctor & Donna came across in the first episode was ALWAYS going to come second to their actual meeting I think they made a smart choice.

I think anyone that watches Dr Who for the monsters was dissapointed, those who like the story would have been excited. I love the first episode.. they got more quality into that 1 episode than the entire run of Torchwood.

Fires of Pompeii News!!! The things with eyes on their hands that creepily remind me of the Carrionites are called the Pyroville but then The Doctor has a dilemma. Stop the Pyroville and save Pompeii from the volcano, but break a law in time and bring out the Reapers or let the Pyroville destroy Pompeii with their rock beasts?
