And really, I have no idea about the Hidden Power thing. I'll talk to Jeroen about maybe making a topic here asking exactly what everyone wants from an IV Calculator, it could be discussed there maybe?

Smogon now has it's own calculator, which is extremely easy to use since it has all the natures/EVs linked to the strategy pokedex on the website. It can be found here.

ok so I have searched high and low but I still dont know what an IV is. can anyone help me out?

IV stands for individual value (as far as I am aware).

IVs are numbers that alter your Pokémon's stats and can be any number from 0 to 31. These numbers cannot be changed. As well as altering your pokémon's stats, IVs alter your Pokémon's hidden power. Your IVs can be checked with various IV checkers around the internet but only if you know the EVs of a Pokémon. Clues to your Pokémon's IVs are found in characteristics (such as 'likes to thrash about') which mean that the IVs will be particular from a selection of numbers in one stat.

IVs can be bred from one Pokémon to it's offspring as well.

sine we can not say "x is sucky" can we say that "x is more powerful then y"

for example, salamence is better then dragonite as it is faster and has the same base attack stat(I think)

Not being able to say "x is sucky" is to discourage comments that don't help anyone. An example would be to say "Don't use a Quirky nature, it's sucky" whereas you should explain that natures which boost a stat are much better than neutral natures. So just saying "x is more powerful than y" without giving an explanation would still be against the ethos of this board. We aim for people to learn from the advice given to them, just being told something is terrible without explaining it won't provide the chance to learn why.

Developers on Smogon have been working on Pokemon Lab aka Shoddy 2. They've released a Beta to the public on the forums, and you can download it here.

Unfortunately, they've been a bit sly this time, and you can only log onto it using your Smogon forum username and password, meaning you'll have to get an account there to play. I believe Shoddy 1 will not be updated anymore, and you're encouraged to report any bugs/glitches here.

Bare in mind it is still at beta testing, so not everything has been implemented yet. 2v2, and even 6v6 (all at the same time lololololol) is available already, so go check it out!
