SERVER ISSUES

You may have noticed our downtime for the past few hours. Due to a complicated mess of upgrades, we had to deal with system software not updating, Apache/PHP not compiling, and MySQL suddenly not allowing us access to half of the database.

We've fixed this, upgraded to MySQL5 and gotten it sorted out (and, in fact, stabilised some stuff that was becoming less so).

We seem to, luckily, have lost very little. The only thing you'll notice is that, due to some mixups, a large amount of PMs were lost. We can't easily retrieve it, there is really nothing we can do. Apologies for the inconvenience. I've worked for four hours or so trying to just get the site back up, and it seemed like we lost all at one point, but things turned better.

I've also been informed that you may have lost some settings on how the site should show up. You may want to check your profile to be sure.

...Actually, the loss of PMs was a blessing in disguise for me. A lot of memories, but what I don't know won't hurt me. Plus, I still have the very first I was ever sent, proving I DID use the site back in September 2004... XD

I'm going to check my profile ASAP. Was it only the forum that was affected, though? I'd hate to think you lost some vital things from the main site, too...

I would also like to thank you for getting the site back up, I did actually think when in conked out that I had done something...

Anyway I agree with the PM thing as a blessing, because although some of them were filled with memories it was ridiculous just keeping them all.

Once again, thank you that you got the site back up quickly. I know its not easy to run a forum especially such a successfull one like PUK.

I just hope nothing more than the PMs were lost .

I wish I'd saved some of the PM's in an e-mail, or something, but with everything that's going on in my life at the moment, ridding myself of old memories may be the best thing. 48 in my inbox was taking up quite a lot of space...

I have not seen anything where it's noticeable that we lost stuff - at the  very least, nothing major has disappeared. It's just two tables that have been hit.

And good to know that it's not that bad. We were expecting more negative replies about it.

Ah, I was wondering why I couldn't get onto the forums yesterday. Thank you for sorting it all out Joeno ^^

I lost all of my PMs sadly, which is a bit of a shame, but it doesn't matter too much I guess. Could have been worse. The only other things I've noticed that are different is that Quick Reply has gone from the bottom, and some of the writing looks a bit different. I'll look at my settings for the Quick Reply thing.

EDIT - After looking through my settings, I think I got most things back to how they were =]

Yes..., so THATS why I couldn't get on to the site. Anyway, thanks for sorting all this out Jeroen! You must have worked for AGES trying to sort it out. I've only just noticed about the inbox thing. Its completely empty! I don't really care to be honest. There could have been worser things than that. Although, I hope I didn't get any PMs yesterday because they would have been deleted without me seeing them. D:
