Where is Cut?
You need to meet the captain on board the SS Anne, you'll know you're close when your rival wants to fight.
Where is Fly?
West of Celadon City, before you reach the cycle path, if you CUT the tree above, and go into the house, a girl will give you Fly.
Where is Surf?
You need to work your way through the Safari Zone until you find the Gold Teeth, then simply take them to the warden so he can speak to you properly.
Where is Strength?
Again, work your way through the Safari Zone, only make your way to the house right at the end, where the man inside will give you HM04.
Where is Flash?
After reaching Vermillion City you're going to need to use Diglett Cave to back track to the side of Route 2 you couldn't previously reach. Next you need to go south a little into the fairly large building. If you've caught 10 Pokémon you'll get Flash.

How quickly will my Pokémon gain experience when they are left in the daycare centre? First of all, if you didn't know, if you go South from Cerulean City (through the building with the guard in), theres a house where someone will raise your Pokémon for you! The Pokémon in there will gain just one experience point for every step you take, so its not really worth it.
How do I get past all the guards to get into Saffron City, they say that they are thirsty? Another easy one! Just take a trip to the top floor of Celadon City PokéMart and buy any of the drinks!
Where do I find [Pokémon Name]? If its a rare Pokémon, I will list it on the chart below, if its not there, why not try the Pokédex?
Name | Location |
Aerodactyl | Get the Old Amber from Pewter City museum, and then give it to the lab on Cinnabar Island. |
Articuno | You'll have to trek through the Seafoam Islands for this legendary bird. I'll try and get a map! |
Dratini | Fish in the Safari Zone with a Super Rod, these are very rare! |
Farfetch'd | You need to trade someone a Pokémon in exchange for this Pokémon in Vermillion City. |
Hitmonchan | Choose either Hitmonchan or Hitmonlee once beating the other gym in Saffron City. |
Hitmonlee | Choose either Hitmonchan or Hitmonlee once beating the other gym in Saffron City. |
Jynx | You'll need to trade someone in Cerulean City. |
Kabuto | Give the Dome Fossil to the lab at Cinnabar. |
Kangaskhan | You're going to have loads of trouble finding these rare Pokémon! You'll need to search for ages and ages in the Safari Zone. |
Lapras | A Silph Co worker will give it to you on the 5th floor of Silph Co. |
Lickitung | You'll need to trade someone at the gatehouse on Route 18. |
Mewtwo | You'll have to wait until youve battered the Elite 4 before you can access the Unknown Dungeon, where you will eventually find Mewtwo. |
Moltres | Take a look while going through Victory Road! You just need to push some rocks to get there. |
Mr Mime | Trade for one in the house which is close to the exit of Diglett's cave. |
Omanyte | Give the Helix fossil to the lab at Cinnabar Island. |
Pinsir | Another tricky one, your going to need to look around the Safari Zone for ages before you bump into one. |
Porygon | You'll have to be a very lucky gambler, or the Pokémon World Richard Branson, because Porygon cost 9999 game coins at Celedon Game Corner. |
Scyther | If your a Pokémon Red owner, good looking in finding Scyther in the Safari Zone! |
Snorlax | Is it really that difficult? South of Lavender, East of Vermillion, North of Fushia. |
Tangela | Surf down from Pallet Town to Cinnabar Island, but on the way stop by the patch of grass where Tangelas roam! |
Tauros | Another Safari Zone nightmare! Again, just look around! |
Zapdos | Take a look in the Power Plant! |
Where do I get a Master Ball? The president of Silph Co will give it to you after ridding them of Team Rocket.
What's the best way to catch Safari Zone Pokémon? Just keep throwing balls at them!
Whats the best way to catch legendary Pokémon, such as Mewtwo? First off, save your Master ball for Mewtwo because otherwise you'll have a nightmare (but I did manage to catch one for my sister with Ultra balls). Before you start the battle, SAVE YOUR GAME, so if you fail, you can just turn your Game Boy off and try again! Next, its a good idea to have a Pokémon with a move such as Spore to put the Pokémon to sleep, that way it can dodge the ball!
How do I wake the sleeping Pokémon? You need a PokéFlute! It will wake Snorlax with ease! Also, the PokéFlute can be used in battle to wake your Pokémon. You get the PokéFlute at the top of the Pokémon Tower in Lavender Town from Mr Fuji after beating Team Rocket.
How good are each type of Pokéball?
Ball | How Good? |
PokéBall | Your basic stuff, not good once you're past Vermillion! |
Great Ball | Better, but still not the best. |
Ultra Ball | The best money can buy! |
Masterball | 100% capture rate, SAVE FOR MEWTWO, I repeat, SAVE FOR MEWTWO! |
Safari Ball | I can't really judge these because I can compare! |
Is there any way to make it so my rod always hooks a Pokémon? Surprisingly, yes! Just hold down A when fishing!
What will my rivals Elite 4 Squad be? It depends on who you started with, but your rival will always have Pidgeot, Alakazam and Rhydon. Use this table to work out the other 3 Pokémon. (Each Column is the Pokémon you started with.
Bulbasaur | Charmander | Squirtle |
