Remember all those Apricorns is GSC? They're back in the Johto remakes (HeartGold and SoulSilver) for the first time since those Generation II games. Aren't remakes wonderful?
As you know (if you don't, be warned—the page contains some spoilers), you start out the game by Professor Elm asking you to go to Mr. Pokemon's house to pick up an Egg (which turns out to be Togepi), north of Cherrygrove City on Route 30. On that route is the Apricorn Collector's house. He (after sitting through his little lecture on the stuff), gives you a case for the fruits found all over Kanto and Johto. (There is also one by his house. It, along with all other Apricorns, respawn every 24 hours.) The different colours of Apricorns (Red, "Blu", "Ylw", "Blk", "Pnk", "Wht", and "Grn") can be found all over Kanto and Johto.
Apricorns have two uses in these games.
The Special Pokeballs
Once you have rescued Slowpoke Well from Team Rocket in Azalea Town, you can make some special Pokeballs with Kurt. However, you can only make one per day. (As well, it takes a whole day for Kurt to make one.) Here are the Pokeballs you can make from the different kinds of Apricorns.
Colour | Pokeball | Description (Catch rate/effect) |
---|---|---|
Red | Level Ball |
A Poké Ball for catching Pokémon that are a lower level than your own. |
Blu | Lure Ball |
A Poké Ball for catching Pokémon hooked by a Rod when fishing. (3x for those Pokémon) |
Ylw | Moon Ball |
A Poké Ball for catching Pokémon that evolve using the Moon Stone. (4x for those Pokémon) |
Blk | Heavy Ball |
A Poké Ball for catching very heavy Pokémon. |
Pnk | Love Ball |
A Poké Ball for catching Pokémon that are the opposite gender of your Pokémon. (4x for those Pokémon) |
Wht | Fast Ball |
A Poké Ball that makes it easier to catch fast Pokémon. (4x for those Pokémon with 100 Base Speed or higher) |
Grn | Friend Ball |
A Poké Ball that makes caught Pokémon more friendly. (3X for those Pokémon) |
Aprijuice
Another use for these fruits, exclusive to HGSS, is Aprijuice. These raise the Pokéthlon stats of the pokemon you give the juice to—as well as lowering them. To make one (other than buying it from the lady west of the Pokethlon Dome), you put an Apricorn is the Apriblender (obtain from the lady west of the Pokéthlon Dome, after first talking to her), and walk around in-game, and there you have it. Here are the effects of different Apricorns along with the stats they raise.
Apricorn | Stat Raised |
---|---|
Red | Power |
Blu | Skill |
Ylw | Stamina |
Blk | Nothing! |
Pnk | Speed |
Wht | Nothing! |
Grn | Jumping |
