It's pretty sunny today

Created by LanceWest1

With the growing expansion of rain dance teams thanks to DW Politoed and all of its benefits, i thought it was about time to make a Sunny Day team.
Sunny Dog the Ninetales
Holding Leftovers
Ability: Drought
Moves: Nature: Timid
Special Attack EV: 252
Speed EV: 252
HP EV: 4

With drought as his new DW ability Nintails can finally be used well. Flamethrower for STAB, Nasty Plot gives it a large Sp Atk boost. Solar Beam becomes auto charged thanks to the sun and Hidden power transforms to Rock to help with coverage.

Razorthorn the Ferrothorn
Holding Big Root
Ability: Iron Barbs
Moves: Nature: Impish
Attack EV: 100
Defense EV: 158
HP EV: 252

Yeah, stealth rock is pretty standard and leech seed gains the big root boost to gain more healing.

Tanvee the Leafeon
Holding Life Orb
Ability: Chlorophyll
Moves: Nature: Adamant
Attack EV: 252
Speed EV: 252
HP EV: 4

Pretty self explanatory really

Spin 4 Win the Donphan
Holding Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
Moves: Nature: Impish
Attack EV: 104
Defense EV: 152
HP EV: 252

Donphan is vital to this team with its Rapid Spin utility. Ice Shard is a great priority move for taking down many of the powerful Dragon or Flying-types that can resist and greatly harm the rest of the team. EQ simply for a powerful STAB option

Flame Tank the Heatran
Holding Air Balloon
Ability: Flash Fire
Moves: Nature: Timid
Special Attack EV: 252
Speed EV: 252
HP EV: 4

Perfect for switching in on fire attacks. Fire blast is his Stab and im going for power over accuary. Hidden power is ice so he can stop things like Gliscor from bursting his balloon

Somboreno the Ludicolo
Holding Leftovers
Ability: Rain Dish
Moves: Nature: Adamant
Attack EV: 252
Speed EV: 252
HP EV: 4

Pretty much is just a counter in case a rain dancer does come in. Seed bomb and waterfall get STAB. Ice punch can be helpful against eviolite scythers put i am considering swapping it with drain punch. And sword dance boosts up my power.

This is okay for a first Sun team, but there are problems, all of which I will explain.

Ninetales- Should NOT lead. It is faster than Politoed, Tyranitar (except ScarfTar) and Hippowdon, meaning that it doesn't get Sunlight up (the slower weather gets their weather up), and Ninetales is then facing a Pokemon that can OHKO it, or at least take a chunk out of it.

Save Ninetales for later on in the game. As for a lead, if this is for PO, I find this to be an effective lead for Sun:

Genesect@ Choice Scarf
{Download}
Naive nature
EVs: 252 Speed/ 252 Sp. Attack/ 6 Attack
U-Turn
Ice Beam
Thunderbolt
Flamethrower

Download instantly gives you either +1 Attack or Sp. Attack, depending on the defenses of your opponent, so you're going to hit them with some form of boosted attack, more than likely. U-Turn is STAB that allows you to escape to a more suitable counter. Ice Beam OHKOs most Hippowdon after the Download boost. Thunderbolt is for Politoed, but it doesn't OHKO. Thunder doesn't either, so Thunderbolt is preferred, to be usable during sunlight. Flamethrower is for Ferrothorn, and gets a Sunlight boost.

Just from a personal preference standpoint, I made a Ninetales set that I quite enjoy using. You may want to give it a go:

Ninetales@ Leftovers
{Drought}
Timid nature
EVs: 252 Speed/ 216 HP/ 40 Sp. Attack
Overheat
Power Swap
Protect
Disable

Overheat + STAB + Sunlight has awesome power, and when you get the Sp. Attack drop, you just Power Swap it to the opponent. Protect scouts the foe's next move, as well as giving Ninetales a free turn of 6% Leftovers recovery. Disable has 100% accuracy now, and after using Protect, you can Disable the move the opponent is trying to hit Ninetales with. Some counters can be completely shut down, especially Choiced ones. You can then Protect again to see what they do, giving Ninetales a total of 18% Leftovers healing for free, which helps to mitigate Stealth Rock damage.

Leafeon has awful coverage, really. Being an Eeveelution hasn't helped it, and b eing physical has taken away any potential for using Hidden Power to patch up the coverage holes. Tangrowth would likely be better here, since it can use Sleep Powder to shut down a Pokemon completely, and if you so choose, Knock Off to annoy things. It also has Power Whip and good defenses as well.

Donphan looks fine.

Heatran - Hidden Power Psychic is honestly an awful idea. It's not even going to 2HKO most Conkeldurr, and they're going to Drain Punch or Mach Punch Heatran into the dirt. Moveover, Fire Blast would do more than HP Psychic anyway, especially in Sunlight. HP Ice for Gliscor, and you should probably go for Timid nature as well.

Oh... my... no.

Ludicolo@ Life Orb
{Swift Swim}
Modest nature
EVs: 252 Speed/ 252 Sp. Attack/ 6 HP
Surf
Giga Drain
Ice Beam
Focus Blast

This is the standard rain Ludicolo, and in Rain, it can sweep entire teams if the opponent has no counter for it. Focus Blast 2HKOs Ferrothorn.

All in all, it looks like a solid team, but there are things that you could do to give it a better chance at a sweep. Ludicolo seems kinda gimmicky, and the slot could better be filled by something else that abuses Sun, such as Venusaur or Lilligant.

Forgot to comment on Ferrothorn-

Ferrothorn is your wall. WHY are you Exploding your wall? Ferrothorn is your only defense against Kingdra in Rain, if you Explode it... well, that's just stupid, really. Try this:

Ferrothorn@ Leftovers
{Iron Thorns}
Impish nature
EVs: 252 HP/ 8 Defense/ 248 Sp. Defense
Spikes
Leech Seed
Power Whip
Substitute/ Protect

Spikes for team support, Leech Seed for healing and annoying the hell out of everything (Spikes and Leech Seed can be obtained by breeding with a male Cacturne that has both moves). Power Whip is STAB, and even without Attack EVs, Ferrothorn can 2HKO a lot of things with it, such as TTar, Lucicolo, Politoed, etc. Substitute is really nice for when you're up against something that can't deal 25% to you (opposing walls), you can Seed them, and throw up Subs whenever you need to to keep Ferrothorn from taking damage, blocking status, and blocking Trick.

Shouldn't get rid of Stealth Rock, replace Substitute for it.All on all, pretty good.Ludicolo will give the oppoment a shock when he comes up on the battlefield, and he hasn't that many weaknesses.I,however, mainly agree with R+B.

Stealth Rock, Spikes and Substitute are illegal all on the same set. You can only choose 2/3. SRock and Leech Seed may be your best bet, I'd forgotten you didn't have SRock elsewhere.

I was thinking of replacing Leafeon with Venasaur who also has Chlorophyll when it is avaliable

Another good option, Venusaur is really great in Sun. Sleep Powder, Swords Dance, Power Whip, Earthquake OR Sleep Powder, Growth, Giga Drain, Hidden Power Fire/Ice. Growth gives +2 to Attack and Sp. Attack in Sun, so a mixed set is possible, but not reccomended.
