Gaming / PS5 Reveal
June 12, 2020, 03:07
So at 9pm UK time today we finally saw our first glimpse of the Sony Playstation 5 and its new titles. For those who haven't seen it, check it out on Twitch or YouTube. For those who have seen it, what did you think? Is it the peak of modern console design or just a giant modem lookalike? Are you excited for any of the games? I thought the new Oddworld looked pretty good, modern yet faithful to the original without dragging it kicking and screaming into the 2020s. Stray looked pretty interesting, a game about a cat in a cyberpunk world and then there were some landmark franchises - Gran Turismo 7 seemed to emphasize its campaign mode so presumably we're not gonna have a game as reliant on online play as GT Sport and Horizon Forbidden West looked positively beautiful. Unfortunately no price yet, I'm assuming they'll quietly announce that as to not kill the hype train straight away. I know a lot of people will also be hyped for new Ratchet and Clank too, I never played the original but it did look pretty slick.

So with the dust settled and Sword and Shield have come and gone and we're approaching DLC season I figured now would be a good time to hear thoughts on S/S. Did you like it? Hate it? Where did it stack up in your overall ranking.

For me personally it's not been great honestly. The game felt very rushed, story wasn't up to much and Galar as a region felt pretty gimmicky. New Pokemon were okay, but I'm not too into the 'obvious' Galar regionals. Regional variations were cool when they made sense with the environment (Exeggutor grows larger in Alola where there's more sunlight, makes perfect sense), but when we're putting a top hat and moustache on Weezing to make it ~british~ it starts to feel shoddy and uninspired.

Dynamax didn't leave much of an impression, we've come to expect a generational 'battle gimmick' and it's hard to invest interest knowing that it'll only stick around for as long as said generation. It was quite a visual spectacle though and some of the Gigantimax forms are quite cool. Overall I think most of my criticisms with the game is that template is wearing thin. Of course Pokemon has always been formulaic to a degree but it's starting to feel like the formula is taking over from the atmosphere of the Pokemon world at large.

It's not all bad news though, there were definitely some good parts. The Wild Area is super fun and while it's rough around the edges I think it's a great prototype for making Pokemon more open-world, which I think the franchise could really do with, it's a very good fit IMO. Camping with Pokemon and playing with them is very nice too, it's really cute seeing all the Pokemon interact. I feel like the concept of Pokemon Amie has gone from strength to strength since X/Y and making curry is surprisingly fun too. Customization has also been a plus, lots of clothes to choose from (even if a large chunk of them kinda suck), league cards were a really nice touch too. I wasn't keen on how sport-heavy Galar is but treating the league more like an actual competition with celebrities, sponsors and collectables makes a lot of sense and should carry across to the next games.

Thoughts from everyone else?

Nanananana bat flu...or so we are led to believe. So the Covid-19 (AKA The Corona Virus) has arrived, hand sanitiser is flying off the shelves, people are panic buying, schools are closing, events are being cancelled (E3!!), some people are wearing masks and everyone is being told how to wash their hands.

How is it affecting you? Are you worried for your health or staying safe and cozy indoors until this all blows over? Where I live is apparently the 'Corona capital' (or was for a while) as we had the first few cases as well as some 'super spreader' so I probably should be more concerned but it's hard to care too much. I figure I'll either get infected or I won't, thankfully I think my work would be pretty lenient about it and I've got plenty of games to play and things to do if I have to isolate.

Gaming / Animal Crossing New Horizons
March 10, 2020, 17:00
Anyone getting the new Animal Crossing? I'm sure there have to be some fans here, I've preordered my copy from GAME with the Tote bag. What features are you excited for? We can now move cliffs, waterfalls, bridges, having raised parts on our house and proper outside decoration plus craft furniture, get more customization options, sit on froggy chair and HAVE KNEES. Have you come up with a name for your island yet?
#5
So the names have been made official, the press release has announced that it'll see a worldwide release in late 2016, it'll mark the start of Gen VII and we know it's going to be for the 3DS. But...while that's interesting, someone has done god's work in taking high-res screencaps of the 'Game Freak developing the new game' montage so we can all discuss it:

Concept art of some vehicles

What we can only assume is a new Pokemon centre

Concept art of some kind of water-pokemon themed building

Concept art on the pinboard, looks to be the interior of some sort of building

More overworld

New Pokemon being rendered. Looks like a bird of some kind. Some people are guessing it's a woodpecker.

The new logos in Japanese. Both these and the Korean ones seem to focus on the diamonds above the text..

If you've been following the 'Rules' topic you should know that there has been some drafting of ideas to help further expand the PKMN.NET community, one of which is the possible introduction of an official PKMN.NET tumblr account.

We're now at the stage where we can start looking for a person or people to actually run and manage the account and get the ball rolling.

While this won't be officially launched right away, we're looking for members or a member to help trial the idea and see it through it's soft-launch period. We'll be using this time to get a theme in place, get used to having someone manage the account, test a few bits and generally see how it works for us before it's made official.

The purpose of the PKMN.NET tumblr blog is to really just give our lovely site and community a presence on tumblr. What this means is that we want someone familiar with tumblr who can represent PKMN.NET by blogging and reblogging Pokemon and PKMN.NET related content; be it Pokemon News, Pokemon Fanart (Either from tumblr or the Fan Art forum), community news, silly gifsets...whatever. As long as you don't break the forum rules or post Youkai Watch, you're actively encouraged to make the position your own and run it however you think would be fun. Seriously though, don't post Youkai Watch.

Anyway - nominate yourself, a friend or whoever you think would be suitable below along with an brief explanation as to why and/or a link to your tumblr if you're comfortable with sharing it. Please remember that we're looking for someone committed to doing this, so if you don't have the time to invest then either don't apply or grab a friend who can cover for you when you're not available. There are no limits on how much you have to post, but we don't want a situation where the account ends up untouched for weeks on end.

Name(s):
Why do you want to run the PKMN.NET tumblr?:
Link to existing tumblr account (Optional):

And of course, feel free to ask any questions if you have them.

Gaming / New 3DS Owners?
April 12, 2015, 18:16
I have it...and it is pretty great. I got the standard New 3DS because I wanted that SNES vibe plus the changeable covers, I also got it with Xenoblade 3D because...of reasons. Does anyone else here own one or want to own one? Thoughts, opinions, experiences? Here are a few notes so far of my experience:

  • Transferring everything from my older 3DS (The first-launch normal 3DS) was easy. I did it wirelessly instead of copy and pasting across SD cards and it worked like a charm. It was a little bit slow because it uses local wireless but all was fine on the other side. I don't store much on the SD card as it is, so maybe that helped.
  • Super Stable 3D is GREAT. I thought it was destined for failure given that head-tracking is kind of poor in Pokemon Amie if you're in anything but completely optimal lighting conditions but it works perfectly. I'd gotten into the habit of keeping my head solidly still during any 3D moments and then turning it off after that, now I can just keep it on and enjoy.
  • The console itself looks and feels the business, everything is matte and nice to hold
  • The sound is noticeably better and more rich. When I started up Alpha Sapphire Kyogre's roar just had so much more texture and there were more sounds that could be heard
  • Xenoblade doesn't look half as bad as people are complaining about. Shulk and co just get a bit jaggy if you zoom out too much
  • The stylus is worse, basically. It feels tacky and plastic-y and you can't fit the old stereoscopic stylus in there. It's like going back to the DS
  • The new C-stick doesn't really feel like a stick, it's solid like a button and barely moves. It does work completely well, but it doesn't have that same amount of obviousness that the other stick has.
  • Pokemon still lags in 3D. This is basically a software issue on GameFreak's behalf.
  • Xenoblade's British accents are weird after years of hearing American voice acting and there's no Japanese audio option

What are everyone else's thoughts so far?

Who's going to their local game to grab OR/AS at Midnight? Loads of chains are taking part this time around probably considering GAME opens at 2am on the Friday for Black Friday. You can see all the details below.

GAME OR/AS Midnight Release

If anyone wants to meet up at the Brighton branch, let me know!

Well, there you have it. 10 years ago today I signed up to these forums and began my PKMN.CO.UK adventure. I wasn't originally going to make this thread but I figured that you don't often get a chance to make threads like these and it's been a real ride to say the least. Plus there's so much I'm grateful for.

I started off on the wrong foot completely, I joined the forums because of IRC and didn't make a great impression there in the first place. I insulted Rex (Now a very good friend of mine) and told him he looked like Jack Osbourne (He did a bit though), I said I was going to spit in Dan_Dan's face and got kicked numerous times by Sentret for swearing. I stupidly thought Jas (Now Superficial Mycosis) went to my school because she mentioned hers had just become a 'technology college' like mine, so I tried to casually throw "PsyKoViggy" into conversations around my school randomly in hopes I'd identify her somehow.

I don't know where I'm going with this, so I want to personally thank the first IRC crew I knew of Mike, Joeno, James, Sam, Claire, Iceduck, Ant, Phil, RocketMember002, Kat, Rex, Jas, Raph, Mark and Dan all being there when I came back from school and accepting me even though I didn't belong. You all made this community so inviting and endearing and you were the first group of people who I properly felt I connected with on the internet.

I also want to thank Alex (CS10), Tim, Lottie, Kay, Rob, Mushroom, Brin, Pokeapache Connor, Jasper, Vicki, Faf, Barney, Xagor and probably loads more people I'm forgetting. I was never really in your friend circles properly, but I always appreciated that you guys existed. You made the landscape of the community so much more fun and interesting. Lottie - you were one of the first people to add me and talk to me on MSN back in those days and listen to the things I couldn't tell anyone, I always appreciated this so much because you gave me a presence outside of the forums and by extension stopped people treating me as being a random IRCer/forum user. Had you not done that, I probably wouldn't be friends with the great people I've met on this site and would have dropped off years ago. I still get a surge of nostalgia when I hear the Banana Boat Song. I still get a laugh out of the word boat. Boat.

Mushroom, if you ever read this - I'm so SO sorry for getting glowstick liquid in your eye. Even now I feel terrible about it, if it's any consolation I was always sad that you kind of left the forums because I still believe you would have made an excellent mod/admin.

Emma - Our games of Animal Crossing Wild World and Mario Kart were fun as hell. You got me into so many bands and you were awesome. Akari, Whiplashed, Frez, Kendall, Mightyenapup, Chandler, Utack, BloatedMitch, Movemaster, Sizacu, TCoZ, Veyka, Sappy, TSOL, Liam, Webbz, Maikeru, Ayla, Lit, Kristian and all of the other IRC peoples who I enjoyed chatting with so much. Sometimes we argued, sometimes we had the best laughs, I don't regret it one bit. You are/were all great.

Muhed - It's hard to believe that someone like you could ever go underrated but I think you have. You've been a solid force in keeping this site alive in its darkest, emptiest moments. I feel like we're on different wavelengths most of the time, but you've always reached out to people and never been afraid to talk to them. Not only is that an admirable thing to do, I think it's a downright nice thing to do and one that gets forgotten under the fact that you're never afraid to be controversial or disagree with mass opinion.

Kit - Not only did you and Nellie make my first convention experience one of the best and most memorable ever, you changed me as a person. I never did thank you enough for all you did for me; you got me out of one of the worst, longest periods of depersonalization in my life and taught me to be a part of life instead of an observer. I feel like you taught me how to have fun and I've never looked back since.

And finally Rex. You are one of, if not the nicest person I've ever met. From the moment I first met you when you picked me up at the station for the 07 meet, it was like we were insta-family. From there the adventures have been fun as hell and I hope to have so many more. I honestly never thought in a million years I would ever be friends with you 10 years ago, but somehow here we are. You've stuck up for me and supported me when nobody else has and I can't thank you enough.

For everyone else, I'm sorry if I forgot you. I know that most of the people mentioned above are older members, I can only hope for my 20 year post I'll be mentioning all the new members we have today and how things have changed so much from the good old days of 2014 when we're playing Pokemon Rainbow in our flying cars and spacesuits on the Nintendo holo-goggles. Thank you so much PKMN.NET, the members, the staff and of course - Joeno who without him none of these great friends, memories and stories would exist, unfortunately you've set the bar way too high - There won't ever be an online experience that can compare to what I've experienced in the past 10 years here.

Just a quick FYI for some of you out there who pre-ordered OR/AS from GAME:

Regarding the steelbooks announced this week - you'll need to update your pre-order if you pre-ordered before they were announced. Doing so will cost you 10 GBP deposit instead of 5. If your local GAME is anything like mine, they'll take the 5 quid off the original pre-order and give you an entirely new pre-order receipt for which you'll end up paying a fiver instead of a tenner.

If you do not do this, you'll get the Kyogre/Groudon figure as a pre-order bonus but not the special metal case (steelbook). If you pre-order the steelbook, you also get the figure too.

Sadly enough, if the promotional image is anything to go by. It looks like we'll be getting plain grey carts this time instead of blue/red ones.

I'm sure there are going to be plenty of these as we learn more stuff, but just looking at the minimal info we have right now...what do you speculate for the upcoming games? Remember this is a thread for what you think we might see, not what you want to see. The thread for that is over here

Right now, we know that the games will be straight remakes of R/S (whatever the extent of that is) and that Kyogre and Groudon on the box are not what they seem (Heavily implied to be Mega Evolutions) and of course we have the names 'Omega' and 'Alpha'. A few things you might wanna think about to get the cogs moving:

  • How much do you think OR/AS are going to stick to the original R/S plot?
  • What do you think the significance of Omega and Alpha is? (If any)
  • How will these new forms/evolutions of Groudon and Kyogre tie into the original R/S storyline with Team Aqua and Magma?
  • Do you think the history of peripherals with remakes (Pokewalker/E-reader/Wireless Link) will give us a new gadget this time?
  • Do you expect tie-ins with X/Y anywhere?

One thing I've been thinking about is whether or not the Strange Souvenir from the backpacker in the Lumiose Hotel will have some sort of connection to a Sevii Islands-ish extra region. Hoenn is fairly tropical so kind of fits the motif of having some kind of Easter Island type area somewhere nearby.

I feel like I ask this question every year but here it is again.

Is anyone planning on going to this? Cosplaying? I was thinking of cosplaying Clemont but I'm not sure right now, it'd be nice if there was a PKMN.NET meet or something.

So...anyone excited for this? If you've been keeping up with the latest gaming news you'll probably know that Nintendo hasn't had it easy over the past few months and the fact that there hasn't been a Direct in a while has made people worry, but as many have said - Nintendo are often at their best when their back is against the wall.

What are your hopes/expectations for the Nintendo Direct tonight? Apparently they'll be discussing 3DS and Wii U software launching at the end of Spring. People are expecting announcements on X and Bayonetta 2.

Me? I'm hoping for Dragon Quest VII 3DS
#14
(Sorry, I know some of you have gotten it for Christmas)

But for those of us who've had it for a while and probably completed it, what are your thoughts now the initial sheen has worn off and it's comfortably in your collection?

For me, I'd say there's good and bad.

The good is that it's a massive improvement over B/W, which I really didn't enjoy all that much. X/Y does feel very 'Pokemon' as it used to. I think the biggest changes of the game (3D, Fairy Type etc) were handled very well and could have easily made the game too different to enjoy, thankfully they work beautifully.

There are so many small features that I really can't begin to list them all here, but they all make the game fantastic. X/Y will definitely be remembered as the games responsible for a lot of features that improved Pokemon.

On the bad side, my main criticism would be that X/Y feels like it's heavily targetted towards people who gave up after the GBC. It's great in the sense that it makes it super accessible for people who didn't play past Gen 2, easing them into new Pokemon rather than throwing 600 new 'mons at them and expecting them to like it. But I feel that at times it was almost too stripped down. As much as I love Team Rocket, I really didn't think it was possible to have an even more generic evil team. In fact, the whole storyline in contrast to B/Ws character-heavy plot was virtually non existent. It would have been nice to have seen a balance between the two. I never got the impression that Team Flare were real villains, even if their goals were no more or less nefarious than Aqua/Magma/Galactic/Plasma...I just couldn't really believe that they were real villains.

The lesser number of new Pokemon is disappointing too, though I feel this was probably done to encourage younger players to explore existing Pokemon and use them online via the PSS rather than continually being distracted by new Pokemon. It's fine and all, but as someone who already has explored the existing Pokemon is doesn't really leave a lot of new Pokemon to learn about.

All in all I would say that X/Y is a great game though, and gen VI probably sits somewhere in front of III and V but behind I, II and IV for me. I feel that things were slightly rushed or kept very basic in order to soften the blow of the big changes in order to not make players feel like they were playing a completely different game, but for someone who wanted to invest lots of time into the game I feel that the story/region is somewhat lacking.
#15
I have! GAME sent me a text earlier telling me they had it in stock so naturally I rushed down to pick it up. It's absolutely stunning, the videos/screenshots/etc. just don't do justice to having it right there in your hands and playing it. Everything is beautiful and I haven't even had my first trainer battle yet (Aside from Shauna).

I've got Fennekin and Scatterbug so far.
#16
Have a read of this link (images included inside).

QuoteConfirmed:
- The patterns were assigned based on climate zones.
- Each country has a pool of possible patterns.
- You only can find one pattern in the wild.
- If you get a Scatterbug from another player, it will evolve into the pattern from that player.
- When you breed Vivillon, your region assigns the pattern regardless its parents.
- Once you started playing, changing your settings doesn't affect the pattern you get.

Not confirmed:
- How is your country exactly assigned? Settings? Hard-coded? Wi-Fi?
- How is your pattern exactly assigned? Random? Based on your province or state?
- What happens if you change your settings, reset your save and start a new one?

I'm sorry, but this is really awesome. I'm gonna make sure to catch a bunch of Southern UK Garden Vivillions and put them on Wonder Trade for other players to enjoy. I hope I get some good ones too, the Sun Vivillion looks awesome. I'm so happy about this news as I took a real liking to Vivillon the first time I saw it.
#17
Okay so probably my last topic on X/Y until it gets released as I think I'm happy with what I know right now and I want the rest of the game to surprise me.

Basically, I've got two chunks of information for you

Firstly, official info from a Japanese interview with Masuda and Yoshida revealed the following game mechanic changes:

  • Pokémon gain experience even when the opposing wild Pokémon is caught (as stated in another interview). A caught Pokémon gives the same experience points as a defeated one.
  • Sky Battles are limited to Flying-type Pokémon and those with the Levitate ability (as previously confirmed). Some moves can't be used.
  • There is an adjustment to the inheritence system of breeding.
  • Ghost-type Pokemon can freely escape from battle without being influenced by Shadow Tag. (The official website mentioned trapping moves.)
  • The item Exp. Share will revert to Exp. All as in Generation I, where when one Pokémon holding this item participates in battle, all other Pokémon in the team receive experience as well. Unlike in Generation I, the experience is not split but rather received by all Pokémon. This means that the participating Pokemon receive 100% experience, while non-participating Pokémon receive 50% experience.
  • When distributing new moves and abilities, priority was given to new Pokémon.
  • The CGI style is different from that of Pokémon Stadium and Pokémon Battle Revolution, because those games were supposed to emulate "realism within fantasy". Since the handheld Pokémon series is supposed to be accessible to everyone, battles were made "cuter".
  • The standard selection process for Pokémon to be Mega-Evolvable is based on three points: visual looks, popularity and game balance.
  • The power-up of Mega-Evolved Pokemon is meant to elevate them to the class of legendary Pokémon, hence the restriction of only one Pokémon being allowed to hold a Mega Stone during battles.
  • The timing to Mega-Evolve is selectable.
  • Some moves, with focus on special ones, have had their power and accuracy revamped.

Okay, now lets talk rumours. Why are these rumours in particular important? Well, you've probably seen me referring to 'the source' a few times over the months. This person's rumors were spread over a number of websites and turned out to be true. From english names to type chart changes...stuff you couldn't guess if you tried.

These rumors come from the person who knew the original 'source' so there is a weight to them but remember they are of course - just rumours.

  • Trusk is a Grass/Rock boar Pokemon with long green tusks coming out of its mouth. He is gruff, has grey skin, and features green leaf-like ears. It has an "adorable" pre-evolution with tiny tusks and a leaf at the end of its tail.
  • A Normal/Poison porcupine Pokemon named Quillom can be found quite early in the game in the forest. It has white skin with light purple quills. He has a Poison-type quill attack which damages and has a high chance of poison.
  • A Ghost-type spider Pokemon is found in caves. It is dark gray with blue spots and multiple light grey eyes. It has a feint light blue mist around its abdomen. The source doesn't remember the spelling of its name, but says it was something like "Apparachnid." He thinks it may have an evolution.
  • There is a Ground-type badger Pokemon that is dark brown with black stripes going up its face. It knows Slash and a new biting move.
  • Reconfirmation that Froakie's final evolution is Water/Fighting. It looks similar to a poison dart frog. The dark blue now takes over its body almost entirely. There are a few even darker (almost black) spots on his sides and face and it gains more of the bubble foam around its neck and down the back. It's also a bit bulkier. It uses its hind legs a lot and has kicking attacks.
  • Bunnelby evolves into a Ground/Dark type rabbit that is larger and much rounder. Its color scheme is reversed, with the dark brown now being the prominent color. It can be found in caves. It is useful because you can get it early in the game and use it to evolve Pancham into Pangoro.
  • Helioptile has an evolution. It is bipedal with a second yellow triangle on its face. Its ears become more jagged and it looks meaner. On its back are what look like spikes with jagged parts at the very top. It can learn a new attack called Thunder Roll, where it rolls up like a wheel and strikes the opponent.
  • Reconfirmation that Meowstic has a pre-evolution named Espurr. There is no gender differentiation until it evolves. It is mostly white, similar to the female version, with cuter eyes and a single puffy tail. It has a little patch of fur under its head (similar to its evolutions). The fur is dark blueish with little tufts of white in it.
  • Other Pokemon that are now Fairy-type: the Chansey evolution line, Dunsparce, the Clefairy line, and Togepi's line.
  • Fairy Dust is a new move that will randomly cause either Paralysis, Poison, Sleep, or Burn.
  • Like Magneton, Wailmer is part of one of the Super Training Facility games.
  • Team Flare makes an appearance right at the beginning of the game. On the TV in your house, one of its members talks about fashion and how your Pokemon should match your style. Team Flare's signature music has an eerie accordion sound to it in the opening sequence.
  • The outfit your character wears at the start is colored to match what you've set as your favorite color in your 3DS settings. It can be changed easily though.
  • he opening cinematic is in 3D. (Have to mention this since most of the game isn't in stereoscopic 3D. :p) It starts off with Yveltal's cry, which wakes you up. You sit up in your bed. It then pans and there is a shot of your city. Yveltal's shadow goes over it. After that there is some other shots of your town. You seem amazed that you saw Yveltal. It then shows generic in-game shots like you entering a forest with your friends, selecting your starter, running through a cave, etc. After that it shows Sycamore welcoming you. You are standing outside of his lab at the time, then he takes you inside. It then shows him showing you three Poke Balls which leads into a transformation video where it shows all three Kanto starters evolving to their final forms, and then the three of them Mega Evolving. It's a really cool cinematic. The video ends with Yveltal flying with the sun behind him, leading in to the title screen. Team Flare is also shown at some point in the sequence.
  • On the title screen you can use the analog joystick on your 3DS to change the angle at which you see Xerneas/Yveltal.

This thread is a best of the worst of all the knock-off 'Pokemon' merchandise that's out there. Post anything you find or any stories you have of Pokemon knock-off goods, doesn't have to be your own pictures or stories. If you've made a discovery on eBay or a website actually trying to sell the goods...don't post a link to it. We don't want to look like we're condoning this stuff, just having a laugh at how unfortunately terrible it can be.

Gonna start with some random internet finds:

Is that....Tweety Pie's face superimposed onto Pikachu?

Gaming / The Nintendo 2DS

The Nintendo 2DS has been announced. Yes you heard that correctly.

http://www.officialnintendomagazine.co.uk/53839/nintendo-2ds-hands-on-impressions-release-date-price/

The 2DS is a budget version of the 3DS, with an unfold-able design, no 3D toggle and a single Mono speaker. It is aimed at budget buyers and children but otherwise retains all the functionality of the 3DS.

It is wedge shaped, the top half as thick as a folded 3DS and the bottom half as thin as an unfolded 3DS. It is as wide as an unfolded 3DS, it may fit into large pockets but will mainly be more suitable to bags.

It will be released on the 12th of October 2013 (Same day as Pokemon X/Y's release) and has an RRP of $129.99 in North America and £109.99 in the UK

..And a lot of it is similar to the ideas I had for balancing the game earlier in the year, surprised?

Now that the dust has settled from the Pokemon Game Show demo, some information about how Pokemon-Amie affects battles:

QuoteThe unique feature with Pokémon Amie is that after you have utilised the feature, you will come to see various effects in battle. These features range from superficial to largely beneficial for the trainer which allows for greater strategy in battle. Most of them occur randomly, with the rate currently unclear. The effects known are as follows

Text: The introduction message, and various statements throughout battle change in context
Critical Hit Ratio: The ratio of Critical Hits is increased
Evasion: The Pokémon's evasion is increased

The following may be attributed to Pokémon Amie based on the visual representation, but it still isn't clear

Paralysis: The Pokémon has a chance of healing itself from paralysis
Survival: The Pokémon has a chance of enduring a hit which would have knocked it out

Thoughts on this? I wonder how much it will interfere with online play (if at all).

The Pokemon Game Show is currently live in Japan where visitors can try out a demo of X/Y.

It's kind of late so I will come back and go into more details but here's the low-down.

Pictures are being continually uploaded here: http://img.ly/images/raim2005?page=1

Details so far:

-You can ride on Skiddo (Gogoat's pre-evo)
-Mega evolutions are initiated by touching a separate button in combat (on the same screen as the 4 other battle buttons)
-Fennekin used the move Psybeam
-The male rival looks to be a nasty rival instead of a nice guy
-Running is default with the analog stick, you hold B to walk.
-There are 3 stats in Pokemon-amie: Play/Friendliness/Hunger

Also, Pokemon Origins has been announced - an anime that will run alongside X/Y based on the Pokemon Adventures setting and follow Red in Pallet town as he battles his rival Green and challenges gym leader Brock. The PKMN.NET thread for this is here!

EDIT: I can't confirm for true just yet but it looks like there is a new type logo in the TCG which could well represent Fairy type. I know it's not quite X/Y related but still.

Music / Where do you get your music?

Simple question really, where do you get your music from? Streaming services like internet radio, pandora or Spotify? CDs? iTunes store? Amazon mp3? Anywhere else?

Okay so if you've spent any time on the internet in the past year or so, you will have no doubt caught wind of a wave of Feminism that has really become a trending topic particularly thanks to places like tumblr and their predominantly female userbase. No doubt you will have seen the 'I need feminism because ______' meme which has spread all the way to sites like YouTube and Facebook too.

Conversely, on sites like Reddit there is a growing trend for young adult males, (Particularly My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic fans) known as 'Fedoras' for their penchant for well...wearing fedoras, who complain that they are 'nice guys' and that women are mean to them and put them in the 'friend zone' instead of dating them.

An SJW is a 'Social Justice Warrior' - someone who blogs intently, challenging the current social system and all its wrongdoings and marginalization. Many feminists also fall under this title, they can be extremely militant and often command straight/cis/white/able/skinny/etc. people to 'check their privilege'.

The whole topic is pretty convoluted and I can only hope the majority of people here know what I'm talking about or else this topic is gonna fall flat on its face.

Where do you place yourself on the feminism compass? Misogynist? Misandrist? Radfem? MRA? Do you think the whole thing is a load of crap that you'd rather not get involved in or are you behind the movement 100%?

tl;dr: let's all have a rape culture/nice guys/misogyny/fedora/feminism/SJW blow-out debate and call each other mean names (not really)

Holy baconbites I'm really having my work cut out for me this week. It looks like the first corocoro leaks have...leaked revealing new Pokemon and new characters. Bare with me while I post it all here. Jesus, there's really no shortage of info is there?

I haven't really bothered looking at these in detail, I'm just going to post them first and then edit with info.

This is Furabebe the Single Flower Pokemon (Note this also translates as 'one moon' or 'one cycle'). It is Fairy type, uses the Fairy Wind attack and is 0.1m tall and 0.1kg. It works in Symbiosis with its flower. It naturally holds a flower and as soon as it is born it automatically discovers it's favorite flower to hold on to which it keeps its whole life, which is why it's a different colour to the flower. It has the power to hide itself in and manipulate the flower at will.

This is Shishiko, the young lion Pokemon (Text reads じし but makes more sense to be しし (lion) so I'm not sure if it's a pun or something). It is Fire/Normal and is 0.6m and 13.5kg. It has a new move called Warcry which lower's the opponent's attack. It's a very energetic Pokemon that likes to get into scuffles, it's red mane flares up in battles and gets extra-hot when facing a tough opponent. As they grow older they separate from their pack and live alone.

This is Pansy (On the left) and Viola on the right. I *think* Pansy is the professor. Viola is a Gym-leader (and Journalist) from the first gym found in Hakudan City, she uses Bug-type. Pansy is going to make her anime appearance along with Gogoat & Helioptile on July 18th (Which further leads me to believe she's the new professor).

The three characters shown here, are Sana (The young girl with pigtails) Tieruno (Fat guy with the Vanillish T-shirt) and Toroba (Small ginger haired kid). You start off in Asame Town and the Rhyhorn shown in the garden on the 2nd trailer is indeed real (and can be ridden as we learned from the roundtable). You (The protagonist) just moved in and all four of you start your adventure at the same time. The opposite gender player (Callum/Serena) is also in your hometown too.

Vivillon, Kofukimushi & Kofuurai - The regional bug line of Kalos. Kofukimushi & Kofuurai are pure Bug-type and Vivillon is Bug/Flying. Kofukimushi is 0.3m and weighs 2.5kg, Kofuurai is 0.3m and weighs 8.4kg

That's everything, there's some stuff that I can't make out because it's a little blurry but we might get a few trickles of new info when clearer scans emerge (Or if we get more scans). All in all I seem to have a more concise translation than some other places I've read from, which I'm quite happy about.
