Team Building / My first attempt at a team
« on: April 01, 2014, 10:03 »
I recently competed in the uk battle tournament, i say competed i mean turned up with what i thought was an amazing team and lost 4-0 since then ive thought about what im doing a bit more and tested on showdown, i just want to make a few tweeks to perfect what i have.
The overall idea is to drop a stealth rock and use a lot of switching to tank hits and intimidate the opponant more while fireing off a few high power moves, kind of an offensive stall
Rhyperior (M) @ Choice Band
Ability: lightening rod
EVs: 200 HP / 252 Atk / 48 SDef / 8 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Megahorn
- Hammer Arm
This was a rhydon with evolite but i decided id rather have the attack boost since i wasnt surviving many hits anyway, i also dropped its solid rock ability in favour of offering some protection for gyarados
Goodra @ Assault Vest
Ability: Sap Sipper
EVs: 248 HP / 252 SAtk / 8 SDef
Sassy Nature
- Fire Blast
- Thunderbolt
- Dragon Tail
- Draco Meteor
Goodra is here to take any special hits and handles a lot of my weaknesses well the attack boost from sap sipper is a waste but the immunity to grass is a bonus
Aggron @ Aggronite
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 248 Atk / 8 Def / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Iron Head
- Earthquake
- Rock Polish
This is the big hitting wall with intimidate backup he renders attacker useless ive got rock polish on incase i get a good chance to set up but if i do i tend to use an attacking move instead
Lanturn (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Volt Absorb
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 SDef
Calm Nature
- Thunder Wave
- Confuse Ray
- Protect
- Scald
Lanturn is the only pokemon from my old team i havnt changed and is here purely to annoy its surprisingly bulky and in the matches ive lost its always been the last to go down, ive dropped a seccond attacking move in favour of protect so i can use earthquake without fear of killing it and for more leftovers recovery
Gyarados (M) @ Lum Berry
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Dragon Tail
- Waterfall
- Earthquake
I didnt really know what to do with gyarados lum berry is there because i couldnt think of what else to use but i might go choice scarf instead I have dragon tail to force switches into stealth rock and EQ to keep those 2 on 1 late game matchups a bit more favorable
Scrafty
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Fake Out
- Detect
- Drain Punch
- Crunch
Now scrafty i really dont like at all, i wanted a seccond intimidator and this is the best i could do
Fake out is useful to set up stealth rock or dragon dance but other than that its definately the weakest member of the team
Any suggestions of moves or pokemon more than welcome especialy items/ev spreads/replacements for scrafty
