Lotad
Modest
31 / 8 / 31 / 30 / 30 / 31

Egg moves: Giga Drain

"Tim, RNG," they say, oblivious to the Lord of Hax, breathing beautiful IVs into my unborn eggs. <3

Me and Clare_Bear are now breeding for Politoed. It's not going as well =P

Hatched me a Druddigon

18/30/31/31/31/30

Woah, that's amazing! At LV.50, the difference between a 30 IV and 31 IV doesn't matter, providing the stat it has 30 in isn't going to have any EVs (is that right Ben?)

For example, if your Druddigon had 30 IV in HP, its HP stat would be 184 at LV50.
If your Druddigon had 31 IV in HP, its HP stat would still be 184 at LV50.

((I believe this is correct.))

So, if that's correct, you've essentially bred a quin-flawless =P

Games General / Re: Shiny Pokemon
« on: June 29, 2012, 12:56 »
I've actually been quite lucky with shinies, thinking about it.

Sandshrew from LG
Beldum from Emerald (which I reset for)
Bidoof and Gastly in Diamond
Suicune and Raikou from the event
Larvitar from the VGC

and then the other day, I hatched a Shiny Litwick - and then two days ago, hatched a random egg from my box outside Dragonspiral Tower, and it was a shiny Venonat! So I'm well made up with that. ^_^

Updates / Re: PKMN.NET and LGBTQ
« on: June 11, 2012, 23:38 »
So wait... they're introducing a rule that protect's a specific group from being alienated... isn't that kind of an oxymoron? I mean sure they're trying to stop discrimination, that's good... but to invent a rule that specifically states that... isn't this just going to alienate them more?? I think that people aren't going to accept difference overnight, this is going to be something that takes time.

The thing is, most people are generally ok with the LBGT crew anyway, so bringing this rule is doesn't change much - and furthermore, even if people were posting hate for the LGBT crew, the flame rule covers it.

So what's the purpose of making this site-wide update, other than bolstering the confidence of an already egotistical group (don't call me out on this - just look at Pride =P) and deepening the prejudice of h8ers? =P

^Wasn't sure if I agreed with Jeroen on this or not at first, but upon reading the comments on the Bulbapedia page, I'm definitely coming round.

I'm sure their intentions are good, but it does seem a little specific, especially for something that is technically already covered in their rules.

And as pointed out, it's interesting that they've not made this simply an update, but an actual news update. Seems a bit...eh, bandwagon-y? Self-loving? "Aren't we a nice accepting community?"

I guess that's a good thing, but with all other sites, homophobia doesn't need a special rule, or a special site update to discourage its members from hate-speech.

Also, I think the danger with this sort of out-right banning of hate-speech/opinion, is that it can prevent education of those who are ignorant. Maybe.

Interested to see other people's views on this...

I will have to bow out of this one, as I'm working; I might see if I can craftily get someone to cover, but don't hold your breath..! =P

Maybe next year ^^

Literature / Re: What are you reading?
« on: May 20, 2012, 02:50 »
I avoid Terry Pratchett, as I'm sure I'll get sucked into his whole world and want to read allll of his books. And then I will have no time for life ;_;

I'm reading The Atrocity Files by Charles Stross. It's a very peculiar book; think James Bond/Harry Potter/Geeks. It's a bizarre mix, but it works. The protagonist has just gone through a portal and entered some dystopian sister universe where the Nazis won; the moon has a laser-imprinted image of Hitler burned into its surface. Awesome.

I'm finding it quite heavy going though. I'm getting the magic references, but the computery mathematical stuff is just too much :<

Oh hey I got this pretty quickly:

Female | Adamant | Intimidate
Egg moves: Pursuit
31 / 31 / 30 / x / 30 / 31

She's called Klepta, for she is a little kleptomaniac :3

Who says you need RNG to get ace IVs quickly? ^^

This <3

At level 50 I now have more quin-flawlesses than Kyriakou, which I'm pretty happy about! =D Shame Spiritomb, Leafeon and Krookodile are all female so I have no super duper Field and Amorphous parents, but at least I have Dragon / Monster / Fairy / Flying covered by Haxorus and Togekiss. Haxorus is still my only level 100 quin-flawless, but I never battle at level 100 so it's fine!

I really really don't like the way I just used the word super duper in Niall's comment on facebook about flareon, and then I come here and see you using super duper in a post referring to Flareon. I think you're Mang-

Quote

and should've been DW so you can go Guts Flame Orb

It really is like Flareon is the laughing stock of GameFreak.. I guess Toxic Orb wouldn't be SO bad, I am planning a Guts Flareon at some point <3 so fwuffy. Envious of the HP Ice Jolteon!

But that Krook is reeeeally nice. Can't wait to get breeding again ^_^

I've been wanting to breed for one of these for a while, thanks to Enigma for giving me a reason to!

Male | Adamant | Steadfast
Planned moveset: Close Combat / Imprison / Trick Room / Protect
IVs: 31 / 31 / 24 / 0, 2 / 31 / 30

Fwee, that's awesome! The Special Attack stat looks RNG'd =P

But yeah, that set is beautiful in VGC battles. I shall be breeding one of those one day <3

Team Building / Re: Hail Team?
« on: April 30, 2012, 21:42 »
A hail team could be viable, provided some clever forward thinking is used.

For example:
If you lead off with Abomasnow, what's your opponent (probably) going to do?
a)send out a fire-type, or
b)send out Drought Ninetales, Drizzle Politoed, or Tyranitar.
Politoed or Tyranitar will fall to Wood Hammer, so you can catch them on the switch-in.

Yeah, "The Weather Wars" are the main thing going on in OU at the moment - whoever keeps the weather in play is the victor. The problem is that Abomasnow is hard pushed to KO defensive variants of Tyranitar and Politoed - and on top of that, Aboma can't do anything to Ninetales.

Quote
However, your opponent may have thought about this before hand, so they will most likely bring in a fire-type. My recommendation, then, is to send out  a Quagsire (I know, i know, it takes hail damage) and use Ice Beam. I know you're targeting a fire-type but like anyone will leave out a fire-type against a Quagsire.

Ninetales often runs Energy Ball. :<

Quote
They will most likely switch out for a flying-type (to counter Earthquake) or a grass-type, both of which are destroyed by Ice Beam. At this point, you can switch out for another ice-type or Abomasnow to replenish hail in the case of Drought Ninetales or Sunny Day.
If they did send out Politoed or Tyranitar however, you MUST SWITCH ABOMASNOW BACK IN. well, so long as they didn't decide to send out a fire-type, in which case you should send in a water-ice type with {Thick Fat}.
If, at any point during the battle, they send out a steel-type, you should send out Cloyster, which has amazing Defense and in addition can proceed to destroy the steel-type with one of the many anti-Steel type attacks in its arsenal.
If a Charizard/Moltres in brought out, wipe it out with Mamoswine.

So...yeah. that's pretty much strategy for any hail team.

Hope it helps.

The problem is that the opponent is equally as good at prediction; Ninetales won't always default to a fire type attack against Abomasnow, as a competent player would switch it out.

I'm not so sure about Cloyster being ~The Answer~ to every steel type Pokemon, but Magnezone is a very good candidate on Hail teams. The most defensive Pokemon that will resist Blizzard are Steel and Water type Pokemon - Magnezone can handle both of those with Magnet Pull + Hidden Power Fire, and Thunderbolt for the water types.

That said, you would definitely need a Pokemon to absorb some Fire type attacks if your main attacking core is a 100% STAB Blizzarder + Magnezone. Heatran's always a good bet. <3

Just some thoughts~

I believe that I will be breeding Larvitar and Treecko next, and maybe Dratini. Guess where I got inspiration to breed them from... ^

I wonder =P

That's awesome Liam, nicely done! I'm currently breeding Digletts. I got a Jolly Arena Trap x/31/x/x/x/31 but it's only Relatively Superior, so I'm going to keep going until I get an Outstanding one. =3

That's cool! I love Sandile, such an adorable Pokemon <33

And Krookodile is definitely growing on me.

I just took on the Elite Four and managed to sweep them all with just Chandy. And, contrary to our damage calculations, Chandelure can hold an Amulet Coin and STILL OHKO everything - we thought it would need Wise Glasses to net the KO on stuff like Volcarona.

I'm now breeding for a Dual Screens Wish passing Clefable. I'm starting from scratch, pretty much. Fun fun. x_X;

They're awesome Niall! I love Buizel since BW - such a cute little Pokemon ;_; <3

I bred this baby for my Pokemon League run through:

Rash
31/29/31/31/24/31

With 252 HP/Special Attack EVs, Chandelure outspeeds the entire Pokemon League and OHKOs them all, save for Sawk, who has Sturdy. But even then, with the given EVs, Sawk can never OHKO, even with a critical Stone Edge.

A massive thank you goes to Kay and Ben who helped me work out which Pokemon would OHKO the league while being immune to Fake Out! However, I discovered another Pokemon that will cause issues! Aqua Jet Sharpedo! But it doesn't matter, as I think it usually goes with Night Slash, for the higher base power. =3
