Say Hello! / Re: Sign-In Book

Honestly I'm just not a fan of Discord. The chatroom format tends to crush any more thoughtful conversation, so it'll never replace a proper forum for me.

I'm the kind of person who likes to have a real chinwag instead of typing small sentences.

Have you seen how long some of my Discord messages are? I really miss the forum and all the activity it used to have. When I send messages on Discord, people don't reply often.

There are a few things that I want to share with everyone, but I haven't got an internet connection at the moment.

I'm still around, both on Discord and here. I haven't been chatting much, as I have no internet access in my new house at the moment. I have to use 4G on my phone. I've been busy working out how to play Unchained Melody on my Yamaha keyboard. I'm doing well. I'll make a video of myself playing it once I have an internet connection.

I'll definitely give those a try. I've been doing a few recently, and I'm already noticing some improvement in my back.

34
My lower back has been incredibly stiff for several years now. So much so that it actually feels really painful these days. I asked my dad for advice, and he said that yoga poses might help. Due to my disability, I'm not able to walk at all or move my legs very well. Most poses that I've seen require the use of my legs.

When I'm out anywhere, I use my wheelchair. When I'm home or at a friend's house, I crawl around due to the limited space.

The position I'm in when I crawl is similar to the cat and cow pose shown here. Not only do I crawl in that position, I also sit in that position when I'm in my chair too. That pose (or most if not all on that page) aren't going to do me any favours.

I can't stretch my back enough to even do the upward facing dog pose there, even though that looks like one of the easier ones!

Any advice would be great. I don't know where to begin.

To be fair, nobody is active on the forum these days. It would definitely be nice to see a new member on Discord. I chat there from time to time with the same username I use on the forum.

Random Randomness / Re: first world problems

My mum hates it when I label myself anything.

Me: Mum, I'm an alto. (My actual vocal range, as far as I can tell.)
Mum: You're not an alto.
Me: Ok then. I'm a contralto.
Mum: You're not a contralto.
Me: Fine. I'm a mezzo-soprano.
Mum: You're not a mezzo-soprano.
Me: The only other vocal range I can possibly have is soprano.
Mum: Your not a soprano.
Me: What am I then?
Mum: You're my daughter.

What kind of a response is that? My mum has recently made me feel like I'm nothing more to her than just a person she gave birth to.

I've recently seen evidence and have come to the conclusion that I may have autism or aspergers. When I told her and showed her the evidence, she didn't take kindly to that either.

all I really need is a microphone, an external hard drive, and mainly a theme for my channel

Microphones and external hard drives aren't all that expensive. I happen to have both myself.
Speaking of Youtube channels, I've been waiting ages to get started with mine, as my family have been moving our stuff to our new house recently.

I'm going to use date manipulation in the Wild Area so I can catch everything I can before the first gym, as part of a personal challenge I'm doing.

Bulbapedia's page on the Wild area is useful for me here, as it tells me which Pokemon I can catch in each area and what date I need to set on my Switch to activate the weather condition to find them.

Which is the most efficient route to take from area to area while changing the date each time?
I'm only able to catch the Pokemon available in the southern half at this point in the storyline.

I'll be catching all of the Pokemon in every area that require one weather condition, then I'll change the date and repeat the process over and over in a sort of circuit.

I've found another website with a full list of all pokemon available, not just the types that are available.

I've added a picture of the Wild Area on the off chance I can use it somehow.

I think it is always nice to see someone new on the forum. Despite the lack of activity, I still check frequently to see if anything is going on.

I'm only going for "Shiny Charm" requirements, so the events aren't needed.

I see what you mean when you said about the picture quality the other day.

Not the best!

Edit: I've stumbled across another idea. My Gamecube/Gameboy Player and this on my pc. Many of the reviews say that it doesn't work with Windows 10, but that's where my 12 year old Windows 7 laptop can come into play!

OBS Studio (which I planned to use with the usb capture card) doesn't work on my old laptop and Windows 7. No surprise there then!

I want to complete my Pokedex in all my games from Fire Red/Leaf Green onwards, then transfer them from one generation to the next until I have them all on X/Y. Fire Red/Leaf Green seemed like a good place to start. I want the summary screen of every pokemon to say that I caught them in the region they were first made available in. I will need to play them on the actual cartridges for that.

Though I could just play on my own without sharing my playthroughs, I just thought it would be nice to share it with others.
I have to be honest, Fire Red and Leaf Green are two games that I've never completed before (storyline or Pokedex for that matter) so maybe I should just do a personal playthrough, at least until I get to know the storyline of the game much better and learn where all the Pokemon can be found.

I wont need to keep checking the website I've been using while I play them then.

The Wild Area is super fun

So much so that I never leave it!

43
I'm going to play using both my Gameboy Advance SP consoles. I've been chatting with my dad about ways I can go about it. That's why I haven't started recording yet, even though I wrote yesterday that I'd start today. Maybe my Canon video camera connected to my PC via a HDMI cable and OBS Studio could work.

44
For absolutely ages, I've been wanting to not only complete Fire Red and Leaf green, but the Pokedex too.

I've gathered a lot of resources to help me out.
Walkthrough - I can't get very far if I don't know where to go and what I can catch!
Pokedex - Knowing all the moves a Pokemon can learn and when they learn them will definitely help me a lot.
Version exclusive list - I don't want to spend ages looking for a Pokemon, only to find that I'm playing the wrong game!
Cheat codes - I'm probably not going to use many of these. The Safari Zone ones will certainly be useful though.
Glitches - Not all of them are for Fire Red/Leaf Green, but some might still be useful.

I'll update the thread as I progress.

The way I'll be playing
Fire Red
My "main" game
Storyline completion
Pokedex completion
Breeding

Leaf Green
Version exclusive obtaining and trading
Alternate choices (Other starters, Fossils, Hitmonchan/Hitmonlee, etc)
Porygon (Nugget glitch)

The Journey Begins
(Early July)

Just by watching and copying. The hardest part is remembering which sign goes with which word, as you have to talk as normal when you sign.

I probably know around 50-60 signs.
