^One of the Kamen Rider series is slated to make its official debut in some upcoming DLC for the newest game, and Kamen Rider, Ultraman, and Gundam have some crossover video game history together themselves. Plus, Zyuranger DID appear in a spin-off (if that at all counts, being a phone game and all) so there may be some hope for the Sentai series! ...but don't quote me on that (Unless it happens, in which case, you heard it here first, lol)

And honestly, I get what you mean. I had to slog through a main chapter focusing on a series I wasn't keen on from what little I knew about it, and its presentation in-game didn't help my impression. Where we might differ is, I find new favorites in the context of Super Robot Wars, even if I've never seen the show(s) before. Although, that's not for not wanting to watch (some of) them (L-Gaim's opening theme had me curious about it long before I played a game with that series in it. I am not immune to propaganda) but it's cool to see how different characters might interact/the shows' plot points might converge. I guess it depends on if you care for the plot or the gameplay more...

I'm curious what other shows you might wanna see represented, though. Here's hoping you get your Dream Roster in some way, shape or form!

i'm mostly just talking into the void here, really, not expecting a response (but hello if you decide to respond anyway!)

it's been a long time, PUK. we've gone through our highs and lows. we've gone through our pillars and our trolls. we've had our fair share of pokemon moles and i vividly remember utack and swampy's comics like it was yesterday. i remember all of the cringe-y posts i used to make, that i had like, lost my password like twice just to swing right on back because i made up the emails, too. i was stupid and thought that the email inbox would create itself if i just made anything up. yeah i don't know how that would've worked at all now, but hey.

i still wonder what our resident forum genie joeno's up to, or typhlosion, or honestly most of the regulars and mods and everyone who made this site tick. i thought y'all were so cool, even when i became the 'elder' of the next forum generation i GUESS. i was in that funny little age, i think. it feels so weird to join the internet when MSN was a thing, swing into skype, go directly to discord, and then have fourms die at a random point between all of that.

i used to remember vividly wanting a high post count because i had so many things to say, but y'know. time moves on regardless. some things you don't get to say in the moment, you'll come back later, and suddenly everyone's moved on and the forums have died. gosh darn my procrastination!!! but honestly, most of all, i miss the vibe. everyone's gone and moved on, got married, had kids (WHAT) and got jobs, whatever, some of us have potentially also passed away but time marches on at such a pace that i couldn't ever know, any more.

ironically, for some reason, i keep finding my own posts when trying to look up archives of this site.
in a roundabout way, i think past me would still be like waow at my current post count. i didn't think i posted that much, but apparently the yappening keeps happening. ah well. i suppose i'm just feeling a bit nostalgic about a site that no longer exists the same way it used to... and admittedly, missing the archives of the 06-2012ish era of PUK.

honestly there were RPs i still vividly remember. the very first RP i remember on here, albeit i don't think i got to officially join, were some really cool x-men influenced sort of academy thing. i think there was a neko / nekomata character with black hair and wore red (?) or something. i think she had pyrokinesis or something. she was very cool. i was so sad when that section of the forums got deleted forever. or well, to be more accurate, the very old posts were eventually deleted and not backed up or something? its been so long i don't remember the specifics, i just remember the vibe.

as a Tactics games enjoyer who also enjoys a few mech or mech-adjacent media franchises, I feel like I would probably enjoy SRW, but a lot of the franchises I would want to see just don't seem to turn up that often? You mention Gurren Lagann, which would be a big one for me, but I'm kind of surprised there never seems to be any Sentai, considering how many giant robots that franchise has pumped out. I've never gotten into Gundam or any of the other old school mech shows that seem to make up the meat of the series, so I've just never gotten around to trying them out.

Maybe one day there'll be a game with a roster that Appeals To Me Specifically, but until then I'll probably just continue looking at it from afar. At the very least, big crossover games in a genre I enjoy is a great idea.

To whom it matters, it's the first console release of the series in Western territories which actually allows for the use of giant robot shows like Gundam, Getter Robo, and whoever else they shove into any given entry! (wasn't 30 for Steam? I don't count Steam as a "console", per se)

Anyone try the demo? I had a positive-enough impression to get the full game, but then I'm somewhat of a SRW fan myself, lol. I'm somewhere in Chapter 3, enjoying mostly side missions! Not in a hurry to advance the plot, when most of the main plot points don't involve series I like or am able to tolerate... At least, thus far. I wonder how much of what I do actually impacts anything, but I'd like to find out for myself...

More generally speaking, are there any giant robot shows you'd want to see in Super Robot Wars who haven't made it in? Or maybe you want them to handle your favorite(s) better in the next entry? I don't wanna go on another silly list of who I'd want in, but it's a shame Gurren Lagann has only appeared in the Z series and... X, I think? Might be fun to toss in Tank Police, especially after we got Cowboy Bebop, of all things. Other than that, just gimme a main-series debut for Sgt. Frog. I mean, if there's any DLC waves after the first two announced for Y, who knows what we'll get down the line. Personally, I'm wondering why Braiger and The Big O couldn't be in the same package as Jeeg...

Honestly, social media was never going to be a proper replacement for forums in their heyday, but I do think something happened in the late 2000s/early 2010s that caused people to be... more prickly, for lack of a better word? and I don't just mean here on PUK, I mean on the Internet as a whole. Well, maybe that's when social media started to bud, lol

I've been feeling like I wanna use this site more a lot lately, though. I know a made a lot of posts when I rejoined, but... eh, I don't wanna get negative here.

technically the site was mostly dead pre-discord too.
forums have been dying for a while. social media kinda became a vacuum and killed a lot of forums re: activity.

i really miss 2000s pkmn net. activity was banging.

I was looking into some of his lines (because darn if my memory of X and Y isn't rusty, too...) and... yeah, it does seem to be the extent of his character. I guess I just filled in the blanks myself since then...

Since you like Shauna, I'm curious what kind of Pokemon players you think she represents, if any. I think me not being able to see that is what bothers me most about her character-- the best I can come up with is "Those With Enthusiasm for the Franchise", but other than what I said earlier, I just don't recall enough to say if that makes sense. I dunno, I'm probably overthinking this whole thing a smidge, haha.

she probs represents the players who do the side content rather than rush to the end

shes described to not really have a clear goal for herself and floats around doing various things, offers trades, etc.

whereas trevor might be about dex completion/more about the info, and tierno - well, he just likes dancing, so i guess he's the memester or their approximation of one. like the one guy in smogon that only uses meme teams or whatever.
