Lucille watched as Damien - that was his name, right? - picked up a massive gun. He seemed to know his way around it, she wondered how. He had asked her a question. "Some mind-blowing stuff here, right?" Lucille didn't respond for a moment and then said "Yeah, it's... wow." She couldn't think of any more fitting words for the sheer amount and diversity of the weapons. Before anyone could say anything else, James butted into the conversation, politely offering Lucille a bow. She regarded it with an ample amount of curiosity. She'd heard that bows took a lot of skill to master. She might be a natural - she was willing to give it a go. "Sure, I'll give that a try, although I don't think I'll master it easily and if I don't maybe you could show me how to use a gun." She gave him a smile and took the bow out of his hands eagerly and then added, as she realised she was about to rudely leave Damien behind "Why don't you give it a shot too?"

She let herself into the target room and unsheathed an arrow from the quiver and attempted to fit it to the bow without success, it kept slipping down and she dropped it a couple of times. Finally, she managed to work out how to balance the arrow so that it didn't fall out of place, then she raised the bow and took aim at the target's heart. As expected, she missed the mark but the arrow did manage to hit the thigh of the human shaped target. "Hey, that wasn't so bad."

James nods, "A bit of practice and you could be good with this. It's a light weapon, so it'll be easier to move around and carry. I'm not good with a bow, but I can hit my mark with a gun. I'm thinking it's because the lightness of the bow throws me off, or i'm just not good at it." The soldier thinks for a moment, then nods, "I'm going to choose a melee weapon, you two can go back to your conversation."

James walks back into armory and looks through the melee weapons, obviously quite daunted by the variety. What should I choose? There's so many. I'm not used to these. Some of them i've never even seen. I'm so lost.....

Once Sidia felt confident enough with her new weapon she looked around the room for someone to spar with. It looked like Garath and Blood Coyote had both found weapons, Garath had a battle axe and Blood Coyote had a... that was called a morning star, right? she had also seen it called a mace, but she was pretty sure it was called a morning star. Whatever, the specific name doesn't matter, especially if you're the one getting hit with it. Anyway, either of them would be good to spar with, though she doubted her little sword would be able to take a hit from either of them if she had to block with it. Luckily, her fighting style focused more on avoiding hits then blocking them.

Now the only question was who to ask. Oh, wait, it looked like the soldier- James was his name, wasn't it?- was in the room now, and looked a little lost. She thought maybe he could use a hand, and besides, she'd rather see how the others fought before fighting with them herself. She walked over to him and asked, "Need any help?"

James is looking through the weapons, trying to decide what seems reasonable to him to use, when Sidia asked him if he needed help. The soldier was relieved to have help. "Help? Yes, help would be nice. I'm not very good with melee weapons, although in my time, I had a knife. However, that doesn't seem to be good enough compared to these." James says, motioning to the wall of weapons. "I have no idea what to choose, to be honest. Maybe it's because i'm used to guns. So, what do you think I should use?"

He looks to the wall. Maces, axes, swords and all other kinds of close range weapons. There's so many. I wish I was good at using these. I know I can't lift an ax, i'm not that big. A light sword may be good. I'm not sure. James then adds, "I don't think i'd be able to lift an ax like him." he said, motioning to Garath. "That's about all i've have. The rest is foreign to me." James looks around, his eyes fall on the knives, then they shift to the swords. Those are likely my strong point. I really hope that I won't have to use these melee weapons often. I would rather use a gun, or even a bow.

"A lighter weapon probably would be a better idea for you, especially since you'll likely also be carrying a gun as your main weapon and you wouldn't want to weigh yourself down too much." She walked over to the wall and picked up a small knife, "Personally, I like using knives. They may not look like much compared other weapons, but they are still great weapons. Not to mention they are the most practical. As threatening as some of these weapons may look, most of them won't help too much in a survival situation. Besides, we only have today to train before we get sent off to wherever, so it would probably be a better idea to work on improving with something you have at least a little experience with rather then trying to learn something completely new." She offered him the knife, "Of course, if you have your heart set on trying something else, that's fine too."

Leon looked at the melee weapons. He could see what he was good at -- basically the more simply weapons, like staffs. And then he could see everything else. Knives, swords, nunchucks, some weapons he couldn't even begin to name. "Anyone in here wanna have a quick scrap? Sword or knife fighting, maybe?" he announced, knowing that those were common ancient weapons. He looked at all of the different varieties of swords, wondering which one he could begin to practice with.

Some of the others were approaching the variety of weapons and trying them out. He considered asking if anyone wanted to fight, but since many here didn't seem like the sort of warrior he was he decided to wait for someone else to put the offer on the table. And it just so happened that Leon, the man who looked to be chiseled from the finest lumber and stone, asked if anyone wanted to "scrap".

Eztli approached the man. "We have scrap." he told the lightly-tanned man. He spoke confidently, though English wasn't his primary tongue. "What rules do you want? When I fight with other ocēlōmeh, we say that first to bleed is the loser. Surrender is fine." The Aztec man held his newfound weapon tightly. He was eager to try it out, though he hid it very well.

Leon looked at Eztli, and tried his best not to grimace. He didn't want to die. Did Aztecs have swords, though? So many thoughts were swirling through his mind, but he didn't want to turn down a fight after asking for one. He might as well just tell everyone he was an eunuch. "Alright. But the professor said the weapons weren't sharp. I guess whoever calls it off, if we can't manage to scratch eachother," Wayleon said, glancing down at the swords. He picked one up, a scimitar. He felt its weight in his hands, and Wayleon almost could believe that people would swing things like this around for a living. Well, I'm not gonna win this one, but can't back down...

Leon walked a few paces away from the group, and removed his shoes, so he was standing on the mats in just his socks. He realized that leaving shoes on for traction may have been a better idea, but the habit of taking his shoes off before martial arts as a kid was too ingrained in his head. Leon held the scimitar, hoping he had made the correct weapon choice for the occasion. He looked at the height of Blood Coyote. Did it really matter, anyways?

James looks at Sidia, then takes the knife, listening to her reasoning to consideration. Survival. Light. I will be carrying a gun mainly. That could weigh me down. This knife. The soldier's gaze shifts to the knife. He looks it over, checking for knicks and dents. It was dulled, as the professor said. This knife is light. It is thin, but looks reliable.

James takes a test swing into the air, away from Sidia. He nods, "This looks like a good choice, Sidia." The soldier thinks for a moment, then has a realization. "I just realized something. Knives can be used in close range combat, and they can be thrown, so they're versatile. Practical and useful in a survival situation, like you said. Thank you once again."

James looks to see the aztec and the person, who's features look too perfect to be natural, starting a bout. Blood Coyote holding what looked like a mace, and Leon.... was it? Leon holding a sword with a curved blade. "Looks like the first training match is set up." James said, motioning to the aztec and Leon.

The Macintosh Ninja: SOH CAH TOA

Eztli walked to where Leon was and stood across from him. The Aztec warrior was still in his "uniform": they must have captured him when he was returning from battle. Or maybe during a celebration where he was standing guard. None of that mattered: his job now was to fight with his new ally to ensure the man was ready for war.

Leon mentioned the weapons not being sharp. Blood Coyote touched the end of the morningstar and felt it dull. No chance to cut, but it was still heavy and strong enough to smash through a shield and break a few bones. Maybe it could break through the strange shiny stick that Leon held? "Whoever calls off then." he said to Leon, unsure what this new victory condition was. He'd just have to make the man ask to stop fighting. Maybe that was "calling off"? At any rate, this man didn't look strong, so Eztli decided to start him off easy.

The Jaguar warrior let out a soft snarl and lunged at Leon. He swung the strange shiny cuahuitl vertically over his head: a downward strike meant to knock an opponent to the floor had this been a real battle. His attack was quick, but slow enough that the man should be able to block or move. "Move quickly!" he growled as he attacked.

Leon tightly grasped his weapon, waiting for Eztli to make a move. As the Aztec lunged towards him, Leon felt the need to hang onto the content of his bowels. "Eeeurgh!" he word-vomitted, throwing his blade into the air, clashing them together, and then moving off to the side. Leon's heart was pounding. So it began.

He cool tell Eztli was taking it easy on him, and Leon had a lot to be thankful for, as far as that went. He took a deep breath, graphed the scimitar, and attempted a juvenile side-swing at the chest of the warrior.

The Macintosh Ninja: SOH CAH TOA

Eztli stood his ground, but moved his upper torso backwards to dodge the slash.
"Good! No fear attack. Keep enemy afraid!" he told the young man. This weapon that Leon was using looked to have one sharp end used for cutting, like a long knife. The Aztec warrior heard of such weapons used in far away places by men with skin pale like the moon.

The Jaguar Warrior crouched down low and swept at Leon's legs: a tactic he picked up in his youth to trip and incapacitate enemy warriors. He was avoiding attacking too aggressively, lest he let his instinct as a warrior take over and cause potentially serious injury to his "opponent".

Kpyna

"Oof!" Leon was swept down to the ground, and fell flat on his back. He gasped as he could feel his lungs rattle about in his ribcage. He remembered getting battered as a kid from getting right back up, so he rolled to the side, and rose to his feet as quickly as possible. Wayleon huffed, feeling out of shape comparitavely, and slicked his hair back with his hand quickly, moving all stray hairs out of his face. An elastic may be a good investment in the future... he thought. He then began to rapidly think of his next move to make.

Instead of attacking, Leon decided to assume a readied, defensive position, and wait for a strike to react to.

The Macintosh Ninja: SOH CAH TOA

Leon held the...weapon in front of himself. His posture and stance made him look like he was bracing himself for an attack. Shame he didn't have a shield, Eztli considered those to be more effective.

The Jaguar Warrior took a few steps toward the man with the sword, closing the distance between himself and his sparring partner. He bent his knees a bit and lunged again at Leon, this time swinging the weapon horizontally away from his chest.

Damien watched as that WWII soldier (James, right?) came over and offered Lucille a bow, before the two headed for the target ranges. He blinked as he heard Lucille tell him to maybe give it a shot too. He looked down at the rifle in his hand and smirked a little. Can't hurt to see how rusty I am, right? He thought, before walking into the shooting range.

Spying a suitable target, Damien carefully loaded the gun as best as he could, before aiming. He gritted his teeth a little; even with his cigarette, his hands were still quite a bit jittery, and he wasn't entirely sure the bullet in this rifle would be landing anywhere near the target he wanted to hit. Deciding to give it a go anyway, he gripped the gun and carefully focused, before squeezing the trigger. The force knocked him back a bit with an audible 'OOF!' as he staggered back a few paces. Ears ringing a little, he looked up, expecting the bullet hole to be somewhere off in the next arena. To his surprise, though, the human-shaped target had a nick on its right shoulder. Not the best, but surely something.

"Damn, lookit that!" Damien grinned, proud. So, at least he could handle one weapon. He wasn't too worried about the more melee-based artillery available; he'd been told on multiple occasions his own fists and body could truly wreck someone pretty bad.
