 I prefer Biebs at the moment since his newer stuff seems to be branching out to more people and it's easy to listen to it. Love Yourself has been playing 24/7 on the radio where I volunteer and once you realise what he's singing about it's kinda funny and I like the video for "Sorry", it's also a good pre-workout song.

I don't like One Direction since they don't really seem to have their own thing other than appealing to young girls. It makes sense that young girls are probably their main consumer but it's like... lads, you're 20 now... it's time to start vouching for more mature music rather than "I luv yeh babeh even tho u fail ur GCSEs". They just seem to be a one-trick-pony.

i personally don't hate either of them, they're good at giving teenage girls what they want, and making lots of money off of them, and you can't really fault them for that.

JB is doing a lot of interesting stuff with his music, like umb said. I dig the song "Love Yourself" and "Sorry" is interesting, same with "Where Are U Now", even though I don't like pop music much. I thought he was crap until like, late 2015 and now I see that he has some sort of talent, as far as pop goes. 1D... I just don't think they're very special. I've always seen them as another boyband. But maybe in 2020 they'll come out with some sick new tracks. But right now, Bieber is the better artist.

I don't hate either of them to be honest, I just hate their music, and anyone who knows me knows that I hate 49/50 pop songs made today. "Love Yourself" however, has caught my attention and imo it's the best song he's ever made. I hated him because of how arrogant he was, but he seems to be trying to clean himself up. JB is better atm imo.

I hated them both before, but now I can acknowledge in Bieber's case that his music has improved. As for One Direction, I hate the fanbase more than the guys themselves. I gave Drag Me Down a listen because I was bored and tbh I thought it was alright.

Guess being more tolerant of artists like them is a good thing though.

No, but the only reason people care about starting a thread like this is because of people who smugly denounce all "new music" as trash and circlejerk over how people obsess over these things.

Truth be told, I think I'd rather not have Justin Biber in the news for random crap or One Direction in anything but that's because I don't care for either.  I don't see how people can care.  I don't see how people can judge.  They're not my type of music, I don't know them as people, and frankly child stars in this country have had a crappy history of being mistreated and abused and followed.  I don't care, and it's astounding how many people do care enough to start a thread like this.  And no, I would like to point out now that I've seen threads like this on other forums and I've responded in a very similar way.

Can't you start a thread about something more...  substantial?  Like, someone started a thread about things we all suck at that we wish we were better at - that's a simple yet substantial thing to talk about.
