As Kerou said, Metallica and Iron Maiden are probably good ones to start with. And it is hard to recommend Metal music when there's that many sub genres and stuff, but with time you'll branch out and find your own favourite bands from these sub genres. That is, if you stick with Metal music

(I'd recommend Anterior but they're melodeath and aren't making music anymore. Part of me wants to say checking out power metal stuff might be ok, since it's more uplifting)
