Favourite Starter?

I've decided that Froakie will be my starter but I also like Fennekin's design.

General consensus seems to be Froakie and Fennekin as favorites with no love for the grass type. Froakie wins out for me, if it's going to be water/fighting type as speculated then that'll be awesome. I can't wait to see their evos.

I'm surprised by that. I really like Chespin. Would be cool if he evolved into a grass fighting or maybe grass dark.

I would hope it would be like the sinnoh trio where the water starter can still be used against the grass starter, and the grass starter can still be used against the fire starter, etc. Maybe a fire/psychic like you said, and then a water/fighting, and a grass/dark. By the way, are you a xXslyfoxhoundXx fan( judging by your name)?

Fennekin because it's a fiery fox but completely different from Vulpix in several ways. Plusle and Minun (as much as I like them) were basically a thinner Pikachu with Plus and Minus shaped tails and different colored ears.

Froakie is excellent. Hopefully they don't butcher the 3rd stage. Froakie is definitely my favorite by far but I think Fennekin has a greater potential to turn out decent in it's final stage of evolution. The problem with bipedal starters is that they rarely look good when fully evolved. Grovyle looked great but Sceptile looked too slow and bulky. I thought Serperior was good for this reason.

Also, speaking of Serperior...has anyone seen this screenshot? I'm sure I don't remember seeing this anywhere before..

It kinda looks like Dewott with Oshawott's face, The generic pikachu/emolga/pachirisu eyes, Piplup/oshawott's arms (and to some degree feet) and breloom's hat, but in the style of a hood or something instead :/

By far my least favorite evolution of all generations. Gen 5 ties for second least favorite starters... the rest? not so bad.

Chikorita's my favorite for nostalgia, and I nearly always pick it. I like running through the game as all johto starters tbh though. Fennekin is becoming a fast favorite - I hope it has good stats and is fire/psychic.

Yep, just what I've been saying several pages ago.

Why should Fennekin be Fire/Psychic? To set up a piece of a second type-triangle? I don't see why it can't evolve into something unique like Fire/Poison. If Froakie turned out to be Water/Fighting, Poison would seal off Fighting attacks one way. A second type-triangle going in reverse seems fine, but I've heard Fire/Psychic is on everyone's hopes for Fennekin. Why is that typing so popular?

It's a popular typing because Fire and Psychic individually are two of the most popular typings in Pokemon among fans and the typing hasn't been done yet (Zen Darmanitan just doesn't... doesn't count. What a horrible gimmick). Plus it just looks fitting, I think. *shrug*

Eh.. I'm kinda hoping for pure fire type. I don't really like fennekin or fire types all that much to begin with and I probably would like it even less if it became Fire/Psychic. Although I guess it's a decent typing, as proven by Victini, which I actually like as a Fire/Psychic type.

Completely forgot about Victini, to be entirely honest. Whoops. That actually makes me a little less excited about it possibly being Fire/Psychic. :<
