Music Swaps!

As far as I understand, all you do is swap certain songs with another person. You can swap any song you like with anyone else, and same goes for them too

So it'd be something like:

Song 1 <-> Song 2
Song 3 <-> Song 4

(<-> = swap).

This is (apparently) a good way to listen to songs and music that you wouldn't normally listen to. Of course, being total opposites in music interest probably makes for strange / intriguing swaps.

Go nuts.

(if anyone wants to correct this do tell me what needs fixing)

Just how do we "swap" songs exactly? Is file sharing involved as downloading mp3s is technically illegal.
The mods might complain if you do that.

you could just find a youtube video with the song on it and listen to it, you arent physically swapping anything from what i can tell

pretty much this, or soundcloud or Spotify or whatever you use to listen to music away from your personal iTunes or whatever.

That could work just as well, I think we should all make a decision on which they'd prefer (doing a certain amount of swaps with a different poster or a "rate the song above" kind of deal). I'm open to either btw.

Personally, I would say like giving each other 3 songs or so to swap would work (though I'm wondering about how RR went about with his swaps).

We set a limit of 4 minutes on the song (although we both went over xD) and found a YouTube link to the song, then posted them both on AIM. We listened, and said whether we liked them or not. We'd only really intended to do one, but then we ended up doing another two for various reasons =P

I have an idea as to how this could work in a group form;

Anyone who has spotify may know it has a collaborative playlist function, we could perhaps make a pkmn.net playlist which people add say 3 songs to, and then post here what they added? That would then have the same effect as a music swap, giving you a taste of different genres, but is somewhat easier to manage than a bunch of music swaps?

What do y'all think? I think it could function better if that's what people wanted?

And for those who don't have it...

I'd say you could PM someone saying you'll do a music swap with them or something...then you could exchange, say, three songs with reasonable times (ten minutes could pass because then I can suggest mine)...and go from there.

first we should have in the opening post a list of names who are interested in doing this, then we should take a vote on the best strategy or if anyone wants to be paired with anyone in particular.

spotify doesnt have anything from tool, the entire in rainbows album, or the first two smashing pumpkins albums so its not the most reliable thing in the world
