Unova Starter Mystery Gift Questions

I have a few of questions regarding the HA unova starter event that I wasn't sure of and one of you are bound to know the answers, so here they are:

-A friend told me that you can breed hidden abilities down with a male if you use a ditto. I don't think this is true, is he right?

-Can you get it on X or Y without using Pokemon Bank? I mean just getting it directly from mystery gift on those games, as that's where all my competitives are and I can't get Bank right now.

-Will the event give your event pokemon a random or set gender and nature?

-What's the timespan when you be able to claim each one?

You can get any of the HA Unova until November 5th of this year. Also, you can get a female HA starter as well. I know. I got a Female Reckless Emboar. And you can use a Ditto to pass down a HA from a male Pokemon only but the chance is pretty small.

Eh I usually find it's at worst 50-50.

Through mystery gift on X/Y, probably not. Through directly trading with OR/AS, yes.

Pretty sure I've done it before, at least I've got my XY stuff on ORAS and I don't have bank so I don't see how else I'd have done it?

I was told that I needed bank. Sweet, I can get my friend his klefki and breed competitive smugleaf!

However, I keep soft resetting or whatever you do when you aren't satisfied with something from an event pokemon and I keep getting males. I want a female so it's easier to pass the hidden ability down. Do you know why this is happening?

The gender is probably locked, with the Vivillon mystery gift download they were gender locked but a different player might get a different gender still. Kinda hard to explain..

"The gender can't be changed by soft resetting" probably explains it better.

I have already bred an HP Ice and HP Fire HA Snivy with Glare, so it wouldn't be too difficult for me to breed more. I believe Richard has done so as well. I'll let you know if I continue the breeding project (a shiny would be really nice).

I can try to do HA Tepig but I'm not sure how to breed for perfect Pokemon. But I CAN do many of the Egg moves which is what I usually breed for.
