Name Rater Too Backed Up

I mean the attempt was made to such, but for some reason (that I plead the fifth on) it died out. Meanwhile about the new gen of pokemon not being in, the people who update the site also have lives outside of it, meaning you may have to wait a while before that happens. However, if all you're looking for is someone to call you an idiot for naming a pokemon something, I am always happy do that.

It's not so much we have lives outside of it, though we are all busy, but it's also a matter of motivation. The forum does seem dead, and I'm honestly too exhausted (and I have a million other hobbies I want to pursue outside of my work) to really do much with it, on top of being afraid to really do anything with site UI. There's a million other Pokemon sites with raw information.

However, just to avoid being a downer and seeing what can get done, I will make a thread this weekend about activity and what you can do to help. We can definitely add the new generation of Pokemon easily, but getting someone to rate them will be difficult.

That last statement is a bit of a fallacy. Anyone can rate them. Getting someone decent to rate them is the tricky part.

How about this? Find a new name rater (me) delete all the nicknames waiting to be rated, solving the backlog, then people can start posting again and actually get them rated!

That wouldn't be fair to anyone who has already submitted and has been waiting for ages. Plus the backlog, based on previous experience, will fill up in a few days anyway.

I've added the new Pokemon to the database. I don't have graphics you, so those may look odd for a while.

The job is pretty exhausting and time consuming - you can't just keep repeating the same rating, it's also about being entertaining.

Yeah. I noticed a few names have been rated by someone called "the johto name rater" so we could have a name rater for each region (one for Kanto, one for Johto and so on) so we can have seven name raters!

That is an idea i second very much. i'm not creative enough to be one, but if there were 7 different raters, things would go much more quickly.

I think Sentret is dead. The Ask Sentret section hasn't been updated for over six years now.

Sentret hasn't been active since about 2011. Meaning updating the Ask Sentret section of the site and answering questions. The site's Name Rater must have followed through with his plan to get rid of Sentret.

If you guys are still considering the potential of doing Regional Name Raters, I'd be happy to volunteer to be the Hoenn Name Rater. I probably wouldn't be able to get through all of them in a day (probably 5-10 names at a time), but Pokemon Ruby was the first Pokemon game I ever got, and I'd be happy to at least see what other names people come up with (That, and if this would help get The Name Rater actually start to function again, I'd take even more regions to help get some openings...).

EDIT: Don't know if you worked it out yourself, but I wasn't very clear.

The Kanto name rater rates the nicknames of pokemon 1-151, the johto name rater rates the nicknames of pokemon 152-251 and so on.
