That's a dumb reason. A Pokemon console game would help the Wii U out so much. MK8 has done a lot, Smash will do a lot, Pokemon and Zelda are what the console needs. Not wanting it to happen because you won't get it is silly. Of course it'll happen, in some form or another, we always get a console game with connectivity to the main series games on the current generation handheld.

Yeah but by the time I FINALLY save up for the console, a NEW one is announced and then the games are discontinued and I'm stuck trying to find the game that I WANT to play for ages. I was given a PS3 and still cannot find Elder Scrolls: Oblivion!

Is that Nintendos fault if it happens? I don't think so. It's more down to you, not the gaming industry.

This thread asked for MY opinion and I gave it. I said that I don't like the idea of Pokemon being on a console that by the time I get it, Nintendo would have its next console out and I have no one to play the game with or be unable to get special downloads because they were limited time releases. I missed out on several in-store Event Pokemon because I did not have a DS for years. I missed out on Mew every sinle time and never got Draco Meteor Jirachi and that is one of my favorite moves!

Again, it's not THEIR fault that you didn't have a DS. You said you DON'T like the idea of Pokémon being on a Wii U or some console like that because YOU didn't have one at the time the game was released. Is it really their fault you didn't have one at the time? No. They won't save the games for when you have the consoles, they will release the games regardless. They're a company, they MAKE money by releasing games. They won't hold up the large sum of money they'll make just so you can get something.

All I was saying is what is the point of me stating that I personally would rather have the Pokemon games on handheld consoles if everyone tries to make me feel guilty about my own personal opinion. I just don't like the idea. You don't agee with me then think of it this way: It MY opinion and I'm just as entitled to it just as you are to think that saving money to buy the system the game is released on is the answer to my problems.

I probably am. I admit that I tend to over think things a lot and believe that people are criticizing me. Plus just reading words on a site you have to admit makes the reader not sure how things written are meant to be heard as since there are no vocal tones involved.

I think the Wii U game is mostly them not wanted to mess with the formula. I mean, pokemon fans have been complaining since at least Gen 4 that they're kind of sick of doing the same thing. Catch 'em all, beat the gym leaders, become champion. Fire, water, grass starters. They're doing a similar thing that Call of Duty does, because they know you'll drop money for this time tested formula that has been lucrative for them for the past 18 years. I don't have any numbers for it, but I'm willing to bet it costs a lot less money to make a portable DS game, as opposed to a stationary console game. The bar that's set for handhelds vs. console is so radically different. The sales would have to be incredible for it to pay off.

I really doubt there will be a serious console pokemon game for the Wii U. Nobody that I know -- not my friends, not my younger family members, nobody -- has a Wii U. There haven't been a whole lot of promos, and it just doesn't seem to be a very convincing system. The only way I think we could ever possibly have one is if Pokemon makes a game that is just so fantastic and blows our minds, that a substantial amount of consumers decide that they really want a Wii U for that game. And maybe one or two others. My personal belief is that we can kiss consoles goodbye all together very soon, so I'd expect to see reboots, sequels, and other lower budget creations. I mean, not to tangent too hard, but now if you want to play a repetitive shooter, you don't need to pay $60 anymore -- you can get it for free before microtransactions on the app store.

Now, maybe in the next gen console after this, if Nintendo does something really big, and gets people excited, we could see a decent console game. But even then, we have to deal with the first points -- familiarity, designing a totally new model, stuff like that.

Captain Jigglypuff

^At least SOMEONE agrees with me. That was my point exactly. The Wii U sales aren't very high right now and there are WAY more DS, DSi, and 3DS models out there and millions of Wiis. If the game was on a Wii instead I wouldn't have much of a problem. It's just that there aren't too many games out right now for the Wii U to want me to get one. As I said before, everytime I get the system, I have no one to play it with locally and online play have players that are experts by that time in the game that it really isn't fair that they all attack me before I even take one step.

On the subject of a wii u pokemon game, I'd like to mention the trademarked "Pokken Fighters", which appears to be a Pokémon / Tekken crossover for Wii U. This could be a pretty interesting game, and I don't know what's happened with it since the last time we've seen anything about it is at the end of that trailer of all the pokemon games through history a few months back.

I believe a Wii U pokemon game will be in development though, whether it be under Pokken Fighters or a new colloseum game. The console games are just too good for console sales to overlook.

"This console doesn't have games therefore they shouldn't make games for it" is a pretty... Odd viewpoint. The fact it has few games worth buying is exactly why they should release one, to make the wii u have more games. The wii U could pull of an incredible pokemon game, something like Colloseum with graphics that make XY look like crap, the game pad removes the biggest UI flaw in PBR, the poor move selection, by acting like the bottom screen of the DS in battles. From Nintendo's viewpoint, a pokemon wii u game would sell enough consoles to be favourable for them, and the 3DS simply isn't as powerful as the Wii U and I'm sure game freak would love to develop on a more powerful console than they are used to (although, tbf, they've been nowhere near using the 3DS to it's fullest potential).

Really, there isn't a reason not to make it, it sells consoles, it provides fans with a new game, it would certainly make a profit, and those without a wii u who can't get one for whatever reason don't lose anything, they just don't gain anything either.

(Although, tbf, Re: Wii U having no games, a lot of games are getting / have better versions for Wii U (watchdogs, Arkham City) and the exclusives for Wii U make PS4 & XB1 exclusives look like garbage - Forza and Gran Turismo can make way for MK8 xD)

(Also, re: Wii U has bad sales, it's sales grew by 600% (yes, 600) when MK8 released and has now reached 6.68 Million sold)
