I can't connect to anything

I've been trying to wonder trade with Alpha Sapphire and X for the last few weeks and I can't get any connection.
On my 3DS main menu, I get the blue "Internet" symbol in the top left of my screen, so I know I'm connected to the internet no problem. The problem is, whenever I try to use mystery gift or wonder trade or anything that asks you for confirmation that you want to connect, I can't!

The browser on my 3DS works without any issues, I only get problems with connecting with the pokemon games.

I sometimes get the error message saying "Can't connect, please try again later" but no matter how many millions of times I "try again later" nothing happens.

Is anyone else having the same issue?
