As soon as Matt had finished his trick with the hat, he was back to looking for something to do. He looked around, to see if anyone interesting caught his attention. He smiled, as he noticed someone snickering. "I suppose you though that was pretty funny?" he said as he jogged towards her.

"And who is to say that night warlocks are in the right?" I call after them.  "What is the justification behind the actions you make?  The actions that day warlocks use to paint you as scum just as you do for us?"

//Stubborn.  They're all stubborn.//

"Children, I suggest you be careful here in Equinox.  Trust - careless or otherwise - will likely get you killed by any warlock here."

I leave, heading back into the city in a different direction from them.

"Funny? That was rude." She retained her huge grin, even when trying to reprimand him. "What if he's late for work? Or has a fancy meeting and comes in with a big oil stain on his hat. His will be the only hat on the wrack that looks like it was salvaged from a homeless man. Maybe he'll even be fired." she continued to laugh to herself. Boy, she was funny*.

((*not really i cant even pretend to understand other types of humour so every character of mine will have a terribly dry sense of humour))

"What was her problem?" I ask as we continue after Nikolai.

"I'm a night warlock. People such as yourselves are accepting of people, and will only turn against someone who has done wrong to you. Others are not so accepting, and cannot put the past behind them. If a battle arises, I'm sure you would side with day warlocks, I wouldn't accept anything less, but the point is that when you aren't fighting, you are judging people on themselves. Which is why I will help you. This way" I say, as we come to a fork, and I turn right.

"Alright, that makes sense." I say as I follow the night warlock

"I was only having a bit of fun. It gets surprisingly boring around here. Anyway his problems aren't my problems and who gets fired over a hat?" He looked around. No ideas of what he could do sprung to mind, so he leaned against the nearest wall. "So, who are you?"

[Wolstenholme]

"So, Edan..." I begin. I try to find the right words but they catch in my mouth as I attempt to talk.

// What if this is a sore subject? Should I bring it up? //

"So, Edan," I reiterate, gently this time. "What was that you said earlier: about Necromancy?"

//Why did I say anything?! I'm so stupid!//

My hands start to glow, surprising the other two.

//Ok, I need to calm down.//

My hands stop glowing.

"Alright I'll tell you. My history with magic starts at 12. One day, back in my home village, a strange man came to my family's door. He wanted me to come with him. My parents said no. So-" I start to tear up as I say the next part of it. "he killed them, with necromancy and kidnapped me. He then forced me to learn that same magic. I was able to escape, then fled to my current master Afi. He took me in despite what I was taught before. That's how I learned pyromancy. Now, even with this new magic, I can't forget what I was taught by that necromancer."

\\I can see that Edan has reason to hate night warlocks. I'd better make sure he knows I'm not a necromancer\\

"Erm... Listen. I just feel I should say this, for your security, but I know very little necromancy, the bare minimum to be classed as a decent night warlock, to be honest, and so don't worry about me being like him" I say, trying not to sound sympathetic.

[Wolstenholme]

"Oh, Edan, I... I'm sorry" I say quietly.

// I feel so selfish for running away now, I feel like I shouldn't have asked Edan this sort of question, but I don't think he's angry at me, however. //

I say nothing more, waiting for the sheet of ice that has been placed over our conversation is broken.

"It's alright, it wasn't you two. This person was much older." I say as I compose myself and walk to our destination.

I'm back on the streets near the city's edge.  There are fewer people here from the street I had left, and I can't say I don't know why.  This area is one of the least friendly.

As I make my way further in to Equinox - I'm not in the mood for dealing with trouble, perhaps later - I spot the faint black of smoke rising a couple of buildings away.

//Looks like a pyromancer or two got into a fight.  Not all of the warlocks can put the past behind them, it seems.//

I smile.
