Who will replace Peter Capaldi?

Peter Capaldi has announced that he will be leaving Doctor Who after Christmas this year.
Who do you think will replace him?

I've heard in some places that the Doctor may be female this time.
I've also heard in a few places that Matt Smith might return to play The Doctor again.

What do you think will happen?

I really hope The Doctor gets to be ginger this time.

Nah, doubt theyd bring matt smith back. Itd be really weird and wouldnt make much sense.

Also got a really strong suspicion that itll be a woman. Theyve sort of been building up to it for the last few years, establishing that regenerations can change genders and then throwing missy into the mix. No idea who theyd get though.

Daniel radcliffe, maybe, although hes not quite quirky enough. Eddie redmayne, on the other hand, id be up for.

As for victoria beckham... Unless the bbc were actively trying to get the show cancelled, im not sure why theyd choose her.

But David Tennant regenerated twice, so they could find some way of bringing him back!

I suppose they could create some kind of "reverse regeneration" that allows The Doctor to revert back to a previous regeneration.

Sure, they technically could. Im just not sure why they would. I get it from a fan perspective, kind of - a lot of people did like matt smith. But from a storytelling perspective, taking a step back like that doesnt make much sense. Plus, itd completely undermine his farewell episode.

If matt smith ever did come back, I suspect itd be in a similiar way david tennant returned for the 50th anniversary.

Think I would actually vomit if they brought Matt Smith back. He was the worst.

I'd love it to be a woman but as with any regeneration the choice is so so important to me. If it was a woman I'd like them to choose someone who's a bit older and wouldn't be there as eye-candy because hat would be one step forward, two steps back for feminism.

For blokes I always prefer the Doctors to not be fresh-out-of-acting-school types.
