Everyone remember how David Tennant was considered awful by most upon his first appearance?

He turned out to be awesome... I sure hope the same is the case here.

I'm kinda disappointed that the whole Gallifrey return thing didn't continue into the next series, I sure hope they have some good stuff lined up to make up for it.

Saw part of "Magpie Electricals" on the orange sign above the hooded guys at around 22 seconds.

But you Matt Smith haters will probably pick nick at bits, so :P

There's my cue~!
Matt Smith was... Funny. Made me laugh a lot. That's thanks to the writers, but I guess he played the lines out really well. The drama of the scene came from Tennant, however Matt's first appearence certainly got me pumped for the new series.

It was a brilliant closing for Mister Tennant, though. I loved it~!

...I'm saddened there isn't a whole HATE topic for Matt Smith.

Right, the episode was excellent - LOVED the bit about the Weeping Angels, my father missed it, so we had to rewind (Sky Plus <3) and then watch it again, me grinning open mouthed like some anime character. Awesome.

The hell happened to the Master? Like, location wise, not the whole skull thing.

Timothy Dalton was an excellent villain, but as already said, a whole season dedicated to the return of the Time Lords, with 'other stuff' thrown into a main plot would have been better than "Oh look, a big red plan- oh nvm it's gone =D"

Donna was little more than a cameo, which sucked. She's been the best companion out of the past three.

Aaaand, I guess that's it.

Now. On to Smith.

I hate him. There's me being "oh come on guys, let's see what he's like first :3" but no, he sucks. 'Geranimo?' Get out. I really don't like him, and from the little trailer posted, I don't see the 'dark' Doctor that Tennant sometimes portrayed.

Remember that bit with Anthony Head as the evil School Headmaster, squaring off against the Doctor over the indoor swimming pool? And Tennant was all "I am old, and less forgiving," or something.

Can you see Smith pulling that off without looking like some snotty nosed Eton kid trying to put down his superiors?

Bah, I'm so missing Tennant. ;_;

AND Smith isn't even good looking. I could have suffered him if he was easy on the eyes (talking of which, he looks cross-eyed =/) but no, he doesn't even have the courtesy to be fit. Well, two fingers up to you. ;_;

Good god, me too, because I hated Tennant in his first episode too. But then, I didn't love Ecclestone like I do Tennant. So you've got a lot to match up to, Smithy. =/

And nina is a cactus!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who saw her and thought 'OMG it's Nina!'. Same with Russel Tovey's little cameo near the end.

Anyway, I'm not voicing an opinion on Matt Smith yet because the Doctor has too many sides to his personality to possibly judge from a regeneration scene and a trailer. It does look like 'Geronimo' will be the 11th Doctor's 'Allons-y' though.

Speaking of the trailer though, looks epic. The weeping angels! They're back! And judging from this episode they either were originally Time Lords, or else were just also native to Gallifrey. I'm betting these are different ones, though, because unless someone went to the circle of Weeping Angels in the house from Blink and physically removed them one by one, they still can't move.

hmmm.
I also would like to know where the master went o.o
you know, just wondering.
"you can go back into the time lock or something, off you pop"
well.. I'm sure moffat will twist the plot a bit so that we can get the master back.. no, no need for him to regenerate.. yes.. i'm sure that will happen.. we can keep our insane blond simm master.. not like they're starting afresh with all new actors and design or anything.
SHH yes..
then he can LAUGH at the doctor for regenerating first.. and go and pick up his winnings from the bookies from that very strange-sounding bet that he placed as PM.

soo
I did like the drama of the whole thing.. though was amused by the "EPIC DESTRUCTION HI BYE".. i.. very odd o.o
And.. it was really well done.. particularly the bit with Wilf tapping on the glass, bless.
That scene was shot shot and acted fantastically.. so.. huzzah.
Plus the bit with the gun.. though, yeah, shooting the diamond linky machine thingy [highly sophisticated technobabble] should have been obvious.. surely? o.o
i dunno. I've just taken to, whenever I tap or knock on something, doing it four times in the hope that i'll make somebody jump.

Cribbins was awesome in the random missile fighting bit this is a fact.
And.. pretty much fantastic throughout.. bless him again.
I was far too amused by the trolley stairs rescue.
Makes me wonder why the naismiths even had a thing like that o.ó

Radiation thing.. didn't the Doctor absorb some kind of radiation in a previous episode? the.. the martha one. "Barefoot on the moon!"
Guessing that that was different/weaker/something.. I can't be expected to remember all this o.ó
but.. yeaaah.
When he put his hands to his face I was expecting his skin to fall away for some reason.. not for him to be Smith then, just to have.. radiation burns or something.. goodness knows why.. enjoy the show, kids!

Doctor playing fairy godmother was a bit... well, it was a lovely idea, but it went on for a bit, hur :v and.. did we need to see rose again? never mind.
I dunno, I think it's only just hit me that we won't be seeing these characters again, so.. yeah. I'm a bit more ":c".. there were some particularly awesome characters in these series and rose so I'll be sad to see them go. Also, tsk at Tennant's last heartstrings attack just before he regenerated :c
Glad Donna had her happy ending c: the lottery ticket idea was sweet, though the phrase "it's a triple rollover!" made the whole thing seem a tiiny bit tacky. well, to me. Still was sweet.
Also did i imagine this bit or was martha married to micky? o.o
I thought she was married to a unit doctor or.. or something I don't know I can't remember.
ah well o.o

on the weeping angels front.. firstly, eee!
secondly, this quote:
"Wait, wasn't Rassilon a benevolent, giant disembodied head that turned people seeking too much power into stone?"

Right! Smith. Yes. Bless him.
looks like "geronimo" will be his catchphrase after all. durnit :c could have waited a bit before he got a catchphrase, otherwise it will seem crowbarred in. maybe.
I want people to like him ;;
GO AND DO GOOD ACTING, SMITH
fjkagrbaekjgfjd
though.. might just be the Smith association but... looking at ms pond, it does seem like everyone in the cast is younger this series.
also, more gunfire.
and mooody expressions. Shall have to see how serious it turns out to be.

huzzah at the trailer for the next series.. was that Smith hitting a dalek with a hammer?.. well, i'm sold.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who saw her and thought 'OMG it's Nina!'. Same with Russel Tovey's little cameo near the end.

Huzzah :
I switched over to Confidential, and there was a Being Human trailer on right before it, so.. -amused-
but i'm easily amused.
shouldn't there be a BH topic around now?

holy crap this was long and despite all these words i pretty much agree with enigma.. save on the Smith bit.
so you could have saved time by just reading his post, then reading the last little bit of mine. Ha. HA.

I reckon that woman who nodded at the Doctor was his mother

o_o

Anyway... I was so sad. I told myself as soon as he started regenerating I'm off. I stayed, but I was like 'nooooooooooooooooooooooooo ;-;'... Smith made me laugh... but he.... doesn't look like the Doctor... I mean... his chin is enourmous, and he looks like a schoolboy.

AND NO ONE CAN REPLACE DONNA ON THE GINGER SCALE.

Amy Pond...

grrr

I'm sorry but you just can't have another ginger companion after Donna. just no.

and plus, I'm glad Russel T. Davies is leaving. Near enough every damned episode he wrote the Doctor was snogging one girl or another. ><

psssh. I'm just going to watch repeats of the 10th Doctor on Watch.

I'll give Smith a chance but there is no way he's gonna be as good as Tennant. I grew up with Tennant, and it's said you like the Doctor you grew up with best (though not in my mum's case... maybe she's just odd).

Well, when I first heard he was going to be the next Doctor, I looked him up on Google Images and those pics of him did not flatter him in the slightest.

and omg the Master saved the day for once... Maybe he'll come back a wee bit nicer next time?

Right, sorry about that wall.
I don't need to patronise you as to telling you WHAT a trailer is. Does a trailer show everything that happens in a film? Of COURSE it doesn't, otherwise there'd be no point in seeing the film! This little trailer is just a taste of what things are to come! They aren't going to shovel in every nuance of the next series and Doctor into it, just the more exciting bits! And besides, he does shoot a gun. Granted, Tennant did, but he just shot at a machine. Who knows who or what Smith fired at?

Damn, just WAIT to watch a few FULL EPISODES of Smith before making unfounded hate comments, rather than basing it on a SHORT TRAILER THAT DOESN'T SHOW EVERY MOMENT IN THE NEXT SERIES.

Also, Ecclestone played Dark Doctor so much better. Tennant was far too ambivalent!

as opposed to Madame de Pompadour in Moffat's the Girl in the Fireplace.. and introducing his wife [is she? i don't know :v] river song in Forest of the Dead.. hell, even in The Empty Child/Doctor Dances i believe it was stated that the dancing was a metaphor for sex and sexuality, haha.

..I do love moffat's work, though.. slightly twisted.. and.. amusing. If there are ever doctor who episodes I watch from through my fingers, they'd be his episodes.
So I am really quite looking forward to this new series :
Wouldn't complain if we saw the Ood again either, though.

and.. as it is, tennant is probably my doctor.. though eccleson was lovely he wasn't around for too long to really.. i dunno, maybe it was because it was a few years ago. in that shall see what the next series brings.. could change . or.. maybe it won't, I don't know~

what's all this "smith isn't attractive" nonsense? by northampton standards the boy's a supermodel.
he gains five points for not being an emo kid at any rate :v

That was a pretty cool episode. Gallifrey returns, Time Lords are a little bit evil... but let's skip the episode and get onto the real part, the regeneration. I thought it was really sad that David Tennant has left, because he was so brilliant. But, after seeing the trailer, I've changed my mind a little about Matt Smith; he looks as if he could be quite good after all.

And to answer your questions about the woman, I'd have thought it was obvious? When Wilf asked the Doctor who she was, all he did was look at Donna. So my money's on either her (somehow) or the Doctor's mother, although I don't know how either would work. Meh.

The whole "Geronimo" thing...

He says it once, in the trailer. Once. ONE TIME. And already people are claiming it's his catchphrase? Yeah, it was loudly and proudly says, but who's to say he wasn't saying it because it was...I dunno, apt to the situation? I do love it when people grasp at sticks to try and substantiate their arguments for frankly irrational hatred for a newcomer.

Also, "Allons-y" isn't that good of a French catchphrase, really. "En avant!" ("les gars!" is optional), or "Viens ici, salopard, sinon je vous donner un coup du pied au cul, enfoiré!" is much better.

And as for "attractiveness"...if you're watching a show because someone looks good in it, you're watching it for the wrong reason. Just go watch some Porn, 'kay?
