1 Hidden?

I've noticed on the forum index page that it sometimes says for example:

10 Guests, 5 Users (1 Hidden)

Why is someone hidden?

It'll be someone like Sylar or Chloe_ who set their thing in their profile to 'hidden'

I'm not entirely sure why it's there, but that's what the hidden person is

Oh I see. I just checked my profile to see if there was anything I could click on to make myself hidden and I found an option that says "show users my online status". I've never noticed that before!

I'm hidden because I am haha, I like being hidden because I spend quite a lot of time writing posts and then deciding not to post them after all and I also like exploring the site and going through people's stats and stuff but I guess I just feel really exposed and kinda embarrassed when people can see what I'm doing all the time.

I know the feeling, I tend to obsessively check threads that I've started, hoping that someone will reply to them all the time.

I'm a little self-obsessed like that, its a little embarassing!

Oh, you too? I've considered going hidden for the same reason. That, and because I often go to a topic then go to a different tab and forget that I'm still in that topic. I pretty much never close this tab, so I kind of wonder if it still says I'm here even when my computer is in sleep mode...

it wouldn't say you were here if it were in sleep mode - it nly shows people who were active in the past 15 minutes.

I always have "Show others my online status" unticked due to preference (plus there's no reason for me to be shown online)

there's about 5-6 posters I reckon that also do this

but yeah that's how people can go hidden, anyone can do this too
