Misty is, like Brock, a gym leader. But only in the game is she classified as one. In the TV show she is only a gym leader when she battles Ash. This was how Ash won his Cascade Badge.

Misty met Ash when he was running from a group of Spearow. Ash 'borrowed' Misty's bike. But Ash never actually returned Misty's bike.

One thing that Misty is known for on the TV show is her constant moaning. It is considered a talent of her.

Her specialized talent is in the field of water Pokémon. She fishes when she gets the chance. Her most used Pokémon was Starmie. But when she let that Pokémon free, she started to use Staryu a lot more. Her most useless Pokémon is Psyduck. Though Psyduck does actually have an advantage sometimes. Psyduck can actually use psychic attacks. You rarely see Goldeen now.

Staryu

She's had Staryu ever since we first saw her battle, in The Waterflowers of Cerulean City.

Starmie

This Starmie is not an evolution of Misty's Staryu. Misty also used it in The Waterflowers of Cerulean City. After loads of episodes of nothing, it leaves in The Misty Mermaid.

Misty caught this "blubbering wreck" in Tentacool and Tentacruel, and then as with Starmie, does "an Ash" and gives it her sisters in The Misty Mermaid.

Psyduck

Blink and you'd miss this capture. Psyduck is accidentally caught at the end of Hypno's Naptime, and up until now, has remained the "butt" of all jokes. Its perhaps worth noting that in Bye Bye Psyduck, everything thinks it has evolved but it hasn't.

Togepi

The twerps first got Togepi's egg in Attack of the Prehistoric Pokémon. After some "faffing" about with Team Rocket and owning the egg, Togepi hatches in Who gets to keep Togepi? Misty did. As episodes have gone on, Togepi has added to the plot in a subtle way, only using an attack to get them out of a tricky situation occasionally.
